Yeah pretty hard to say, on the one hand Dell as a brand sucks and ViewSonic is good, on the other hand the Dell is bigger. Id say it comes down to personal preference :D Dont really want to keep this thread going to much longer but for the money I would choose this monitor

http://www.compusa.com/products/product_info.asp?pfp=BROWSE&No=60&N=200049&Ns=mfg%5Fname%7C0&product_code=338610&Pn=SyncMaster_215TW_21_inch_LCD_Multimedia_Monitor

I have seen it as well and it looks very sharp. You can rotate it as well, not sure why I would need that but hey its there. Now I just need to find an extra $500.00 ha!

Resolution on the viewsonic is 1680 by 1050.
Resolution on the Dell is 1920 by 1200.

The Refresh rate of the Viewsonic is nice I will give you that. Although for such a small difference in refresh rate I still think I would like the extra 2 inches more. What were the native resolutions on both monitors? I think that would really be the deciding factor for me.

Anyhow Jade you can't go wrong with that Viewsonic, it's an excellent monitor.

--- also dell alot of the time does suck, na even most of the time, but they do make decent monitors! :)

It's dell.
Also, the specs.

The link prices it at $949.00. It's the same monitor as before, really, check the name and everything. But nevermind. Apparently you can buy it for more.

The Viewsonic:
size: 22"
refresh rate: 82hz x 85hz
contrast ratio: 700:1
response time: 5ms

The Dell:
size: 24"
refresh rate: 76hz x 81hz
contrast ratio: 1000:1
response time: 12ms

Both support HD.
Putting aside my lack of faith in Dell products, and the simple fact that viewsonic make good monitors, I'd still say the Viewsonic wins. I like my games really, and higher refresh rates and response times win.

It's Jade's choice anyway though, not mine.

The specs arep pretty easy to find,i will agree that they shoudl have posted them clearly altho I think it is because that is not a standard page for that monitor. Also I have a "sorta" friend that has one, I have seen it and looked it over. Found it to be a very decent monitor for the size and price. Most reviews on the net say the same. Shot down? I think not ! ;)

Dell. Dell! DELL!
Also, it doesn't actually tell you -anything ever- concerning specs of that monitor. Sorry to shoot you down here, but I really wouldn't recommend anyone buy something that doesn't tell them these things.

Keep in mind that the bigger your screen, in order for the image to remain sharp, you'll also need to crank up the resolution. For example, I used to have a 15" TFT and the correct ratio for it was a 1024 x 768 resolution, which my computer handled fine. But then I upgraded to a 17" and my new 'normal' resolution was 1280 x 1024. And then some games started dropping in framerates, etc.

If you have a good video card, there's no need to worry. Just saying that the increased resolution required will tax your PC as well, and if you don't increase resolution your game will become pixelated. Just a thought. :)

5ms is the response time, the refresh rate is ~85hz.
Both are pretty reasonable.
It's a very good monitor by the stats (contrast ratio 700:1, impressive), though I have no idea what the price translates to.
*edit* Just noticed, if you're planning on buying this, make sure you don't let it overheat. LCDs tend to.. die when they do. (check the operating conditions, a mere 5-35degrees.) =/
