Del Rey Asks Fans to Name the next Sith Lord
Besides being the ultimate bad guys, Vader, Sidious, Maul, and Bane have another thing in common: they all had to go through the ritual of shunning their identities to solidify their allegiance to the Sith order. A pivotal point in the career of any self-respecting Sith Lord is the adoption of his or her Darth title. If you've been reading the Legacy of the Force series of novels (and if not, why haven't you?) then you know that - SPOILER ALERT - Jacen Solo is turning toward the dark side of the Force. The young Sith Lord is about to take the most definitive of steps by adopting a Darth moniker and Del Rey is sponsoring a contest in which readers get to choose the name of the newest Sith Lord in the Star Wars saga. Is it us, or is that pretty sweet? Details for the contest can be found at Darthwho.com

The link to Darthwho.com dosn't work yet, but it is registered to RandomHouse the guys who publish the books or whatever.

Taken from theforce.net

Seems a daft idea to me, but what the hey!

Darth Solus is the one i came up with.

The final five are pretty poor to be honest:

-Acheron (a river in hades 'for those who deny justice', basically comes from Greek Myth, and involves Charon.)

-Caedus (Seems to be the fan favourite, there is a disagreement abot its meaning, the site claims it means 'a battle of darkness' but the Latin apparently means something else "Caedus is latin and is the singular masculine form of the work meaning cutting down, killing, slaughter or referring to persons slain; blood shed in slaughter." )

-Judicar (The final judge apparently, i think this name sounds stupid personally.)

-Paxis ('bringer of peace' would of sounded a bit better as Praxis, or Pax, as is it just sounds rediculous.)

-Taral (Apparently this is 'ancient sith' for 'he who protects', however this is a little dodgy seeing as no fans could of submitted the meaning behind this, so this name might of been submitted by the company...)

I'm not wild about any of them, but i voted for Acheron, mainly because i really like Greek Myth, and because the name sounds ok. Caedus isn't bad either, but i saw plenty of ideas better than the others just on one site.

The Chosen One is just a ideal, The Ideal what brings balance to the Force - between good and evil...etc
And in the fact nobody have never said that Anakin Skywalker was the chosen one. It was just a assumption...

Plo: Yes you're point is a good one, i believe Lucas had originally intended, and in fact said somewhere that with the Emperor's death the Sith were to never return, fulfilling the Chosen One's prophecy.

There has been some controversy over the seeming re-introduction of the Sith in the latest series of books, some fans claim they are not true Sith etc etc. However everything that has been said so far seems to suggest they are indeed bringing back the Sith Order, the Legacy series of comic books has already told us they return eventually, that series is set some 140 years after ANH, and features a rule of One, a grand army of Sith comanded by Darth Krayt.

Anyway, this Darth Who contest is real, and it all points towards Jacen becoming the next 'real' Sith since the Emperor, unless you count Lumiya. Of course this could purely be his belief in the books, and it may turn out he is never considered more than a Dark Jedi by others, who knows.

Oh and Saz: The books arn't really all that bad, and i'm not sure i understand where you are coming from, its quite rare they will bring back a character from the dead, particularly one from that far back. There is no chance of Reven and Malak appearing beyond the KotOR era in my opinion, unless its a hologram of some kind.

i think this is the weak point of star wars books - anything can happen there.
nothing keeps ppl like revan, malak etc from just ressurection themselves yet they are dead ? why? :D

err wasn't the last of the Sith Order destroyed by The Chosen One?, thus fulfilling an Ancient Prophecy.

Darth Bane's (one of these darth's :)) idea to only have two sith at one time instead of an army was good, but mighty risky if they both were killed. And it happened, the Sith are gone so I think Jacen there would be a Dark Jedi

it wasnt killed of by the chosen one - palaptine came back multiple times and darth krayt's new sith order took power ect

I completley forgot to add that this did go ahead in the end, i submitted my vote for Darth Solus, it was free to do on starwars.com, however the voting has finished now. I believe they are planning on putting the five authors/judges choices up on the website in the new year (jan/feb sometime) and you can vote for one of those five to win.

I'll post the five finalists when they appear, for anyone at all curious.

Cool idea but if they haven'd done anything by now I doubt they will, seeing as the series has already started. But you never know.:)

oh and your darthwho.com link needs fixing.:D

Fixed it, thanks. Yeah i know it seems nuts, but apparently this was in an Insider and seems legit, it could of course be some kind of ellaborate hoax, but why? Oh and its not too late yet, the authors have yet to pen all the books in the series after all, i believe they are only upto about 6 or 7 in terms of the writing, and we don't know when Jacen officially becomes a Sith.
