Seeing the commercials about that new Marie Antoinette movie makes me remember about studying her, and how sorry I felt for her. She was a clueless, innocent queen that was killed because of Louis XVI's own actions. Seeing "Marie Playing Dress-Up" by Marie Louise Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun (I totally didn't copy+paste that just now) makes me sad. I'm not trying to be racist or prejudicial, and if this offends you for some reason, I apoligize, but those who spawned the Reign of Terror and those who cheered and begged for Marie Antoinette's execution are nothing more than French Revolution fanatical chauvinist pigs. Then comes the Reign of Terror, where they just cut off the heads of people who were remotely suspected of not supporting the Revolution. Robespierre, "We're just going to cut off the heads of many people just so it seems like more people support the Revolution than otherwise." But this discussion's about Marie Antoinette. I don't think the new movie should portray her life with a bunch of modern music and have her try to be the leader of the cool kid's club. Her life was sad and she was more sinned than a sinner. Discuss. _______________ slorp |

Depends on the perspective you take I suppose. _______________ Proud owner of El Vee For's 200th Comment, and Wicek's 2600th comment DaMi3N's 400th, Trad Redav's 666th. |

Meh. The whole 'reign of terror' thing was monstrous, but it's not like those on the receiving end were innocents either. It's just another bloody chapter in history. |

I find it awfully hard to feel sorry for someone who lived in luxury with no regard for the millions who were living in poverty, growing her food, and paying her taxes. _______________ "You can't get Windows on a Mac because the drivers are not compatible." --- Some dude from the Geek Squad "So if you have quad-core, you have four times the RAM, right?" --- Some guy at Best Buy |

I'd post about this, but I never got to study Marie Antoinette at school, so i really can't say anything. _______________ Proud owner of El Vee For's 200th Comment, and Wicek's 2600th comment DaMi3N's 400th, Trad Redav's 666th. Well, I hope that there's no flaming. I just want a mature discussion. _______________ slorp |
