I'd like us to have a civil discussion about music in this thread. Your favourite bands, your type of music, what music is great and what music is your greatest enemy, etc ...

I've put "civil" in bold, because I've never liked it when one says "it sucks!" without even argumenting why you think it sucks. After all, you're expressing an opinion, not a fact, so you would do well to just saying you don't like it, or saying that in your opinion, that music sucks.
Please keep this in mind. I've no intention of seeing a thread closed because of people bashing each other's music.

I'll go first. You're free to respond in whatever way you want, as long as you've read the part above.

My favourite music is no doubt Metal in all of its genres, I grew up listening to Metallica, which remained my number one interest for several years, but I've expanded to Megadeth, Children of Bodom, Evergrey, Caliban, Evanescence, ...
But I'm a very versatile person and I won't say no to the occasional pop songs, where The Veronica's, Pink pop into my mind primarily.

I like Metal mainly because of its power to relax people. You often hear that Metal inspires to anger and violence, but I have never felt that way. If anything, I relax by putting on some Metal of any kind.
The only Metal songs I don't like are the really gothic one's saying "the world sucks", "I want to die", etc. I've never listened to such music, and I never will. I've got an acquaintance who does though. He's the same as his music-choice, unfortunately.
I got acquainted with Evanescence through their song "My Immortal". If the name doesn't ring a bell, try googling the name (video.google.com has some good results) and I'm sure you'll recognize the song when you hear it. After that I got to know them pretty quickly and today I've bought their first and second album, so far I like the first one more.

A while ago I got an obsession with the Veronica's, after meeting someone special and then hearing one of their numbers. You can say they still bring up a feeling of nostalgia. Those who say that The Veronica's have simple songs, poprock, nothing more, I urge you to listen to the rest of their cd. The worst songs they have, are the ones everyone knows (4ever, When it all Falls Apart), but that is purely in my own taste.
I like Pink as well, as I've shown on these forums before. I got to know her by the song "Who Knew" from her latest album, and was quite impressed by "Stupid Girls" and the message you can't miss therein. I think it takes a strong person to be able to take a shot at this culture of today, and in the process make fun of Paris Hilton (see the video of the song).
I also like how she makes songs about parents fighting, teens (mostly girls) hating themselves for what they are, and she also takes a nice stab towards the entire mentality of shunning gays that lives with quite a few people.

So, if you feel like it, feel free to respond with your own musical choices, why you like those bands, that music style, ...
I think most of us are up for a good discussion! ;)

Mmm, it wasn't my intention to post this in the Crazy Forum. Could one of the JAC please move this post. Thank you very much in advance
