He could block lasers with his lightsaber. He could levitate droids & rocks & crap with his mind. Come on, he choked two pig dudes with just a simple gesture. He cut off Darth Vader's hand and kicked him down a flight of stairs. He got his @$$ zapped by lightning from the geezer Emperor, stood up and said "s'at all you got b!tc#??"

Arkham Asylum is great but I like the Killing Joke better. None of these can even compare to Moore's work on Watchmen though. If you haven't read it you have to. Go now, all comic fans must lol.

As for the 300 Graphic Novel itself, it's not that good. Miller is over rated (except for his work on Daredevil).

Alan Moore is my favorite writer.
Batman: The Killing Joke
Watchmen <<best book ever
V for Vendetta

Those are his three biggest works, and they're all absolutely amazing.
Arkham Asylum - Best GN ever
Havoc vs. Wolverine
Killing Joke

I like Millers work, Sin City is the bomb.

I'm sorry man, but if you have to go read up on a movie to be able to enjoy it before you go see it in the cinema, then it sucks. :P

Oh, sarcasm? My, how stupendously original.

The cartoon had robots that turn into vehicles, did that have uber special effects?

And secondly, before you brought wit into this, Transformers has such a level of special effects that it couldn't have been made 5 years ago.

Pushing the boundary? FO RLZ!?!?!

Superb is a stretch of the imagination, adequate yes.

you should have listened to what people say in that movie, if watching fights was all you did then... i dunno.
Entire statement depends on an assumption that through the 4 times I have watched the entire film that I didn't listen to characters speak, which of course I did.

The Kings background takes up the first 10-15 minutes of movie run time. Since the King's background is termed as "typical" for a Spartan man then it is easy to summize that if we know one Spartan's story than we know them all.

The Kings character is clearly developed, we don't require much information about the man other than he has been raised to fight since he could walk.

A movie featuring a character such as that doesn't require allot of idle chit chat, just brutal fight after fight.

Character developement in an action movie is a novel idea but I would save it for chick flicks.

We learn allot about our brave and noble king don't we?

His upbringing is featured but also termed as "typical" for all Spartan. We know one we know them all.

I'd say the first Spider-man was crap, but Spider-man 2 was one of the better comic movies out there. It actually made the character Peter Parker interesting as well as Spider-man.

300 had cool fight scenes, but it didn't really develop any of the characters at all. All we know is they care a lot about fighting.

Out of interest have you seen Sin City? Because many of the effects used in 300 were first perfected in that film. I love 300 but it wasn't quite the first ground breaking film of its type.

i dont know, i think sin city and 300 were quite different effects-wise.
both rocked tho.
hmmm i dunno i think ill have to rethink my statement about 'ground breaking effects'... i guess 300 impressed me THAT much :P

Oh and i also still rate Gladiator a tad over 300, however it is close, much closer than i originally thought it would be. Personally i was surpised by how well 300 managed to create a sense of story around the main fight and that overall the slow mo shots (while possibly over used) worked well in the context of the film and made the fight scenes more interesting, setting it apart from some other films of its genre.

This movie doesn't compare to anything that has ever come from the genre. Gladiator was gay compared to this flick.

That's the craziest thing I've ever heard in my entire life! lol. 300 was pretty sweet, but it had wayyy to many slow motion shots, and was essentially just one like fight. The movie was good, don't get me wrong, but Gladiator is one of the best movies ever made. It's on par with movies like Pulp Fiction, Good Fellas, The English Patient, and Unforgiven. Where was 300 resides next to movies like Tombstone, Spider-man 2, and V for Vendetta. These are great films, but nothing compared to the first list.

I watched it again at the drive-in, way more fun cuz you could get away with cheering!!!

This movie doesn't compare to anything that has ever come from the genre. Gladiator was gay compared to this flick.

Go see it again!

While there is no chance at a sequel as long as good films like these get good income we will see more of them.

300 was good, but GrindHouse was better.

I didn't really dig the cheap Gollum rip off, or the Fields of Grain sequences ripped straight from Gladiator lol. Although, I can't lie, I was into the fight scenes. Those were pretty cool.

Best part of the movie: Llama playing a flute.
