I only saw pictures and movies of it but I liked what I saw. I think I'll wait untill there is a try out weekend or something. I went ahead and preordered this game last week and played the beta for the past few days. One thing I can say is, it doesn't feel like LOTR at all. It's got the names and the characters from LOTR, but it's missing something I can't put my finger on.
When I first played SWG back in the day, I felt like I was really in the SW world. Same with WoW the whole week I played. But something about the production of this game makes it...lacking in that sense. Maybe it's the whole guitar-playing healer thing. I just feel like they took the WoW code, threw some LOTR stamps on it, and rereleased it as LOTRO. But then again, maybe it's just me. As it stands at the moment, this game isn't anything great and probably won't be too distinctive from WoW once it's finished unless they do some drastic changes. Actually, having another go at it, Ive decided I like it all, very good show, some minor lag issues in crowded areas though...

Heh, having beta tested LORO I can confirm that it is NOT based of the films becasue they don't have the license, expect ot encounter Tom Bombadil and Radagast The Brown etc. The attention to detail as far as role playing is concerned is astounding, however I found the interface and gameplay rather......plain.......I will still be buying it, justot say I was there on day 1 _______________ I was a child when I joined the JA...scary. |

well, I really like LOTR movies, but first of all I like the book they were based on. And as far as I know, LOTRO wasn't made by EA(which actually has the license for all MOVIE- characters). That's why I think it's gonna do some good. For EA-made-games-with-LOTR-license really suck. Im installing the beta as I a type. Whats wrong with it dude? I have played many mmos in my life. LOTRO just isn't that fun. It is a very basic and has little to offer other than being LOTR. I am a hardcore LOTR fan, and it just didn't do anything for me. |
