I can't see this being discussed anywhere else but I saw the SWG thread and wondered if anyone has seen this: http://www.swgemu.com/
I haven't read much into it but I gather it's a large community run SWG servers that run the pre-NGE and combat upgrades. Sounds sweet, and it's (apparently) legal. It's all in beta and probably won't be finished for a year or so but if they pull it off maybe we will be able to play the good version of the game again. Yeah, I have read about that before as well. Right now it cannot really be played and enjoyed but it might just work later.

I heard about this aaages ago. Back then I was pretty skeptical about it ever working, although i suppose if its still going then thats a point in its favour. They have achieved some great things but i'm still not sure they will ever create the same sense of community that made swg so much fun, or that they will be able to run enough high quality servers.
Still i'd be happy to be proven wrong.
