Got this rumor from Wikipedia: Quote: On April 25th, 2007, a rumor came about that BioWare was secretly in development on a Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG. Stemming from the latest issue of EGM, the rumor contained little information to support the claim. However, investigation into the matter reveals that there is more to the rumor than EGM's single suggestion. In early 2006 BioWare opened an Austin branch to develop an unnamed MMORPG. This alone confirmed an inevitable BioWare MMO, but the choice of Richard Vogel as a leader of the project is what largely suggest that the currently unnamed MMO is set in the KOTOR universe. Vogel was one of the project leaders behind the sci-fi MMO Star Wars Galaxies. SWG was held down by being set in a universe where continuity prevented any true story development (such as seen in WoW) and SOE assuming creative control eventually caused the removal of the things that had kept SWG's hardcore fanbase playing among them the skill tree system, which allowed for more customizable characters and drastic changes to the game's combat and character profession selection.
SOE has been confirmed to have lost the Star Wars license, though there has been no confirmation that BioWare will be producing a KotOR MMORPG. This post was edited by Kenyon on Mar 23 2011 05:48pm. |

honestly...i dont really care...cause KOTOR2 was horrible. The story finished at the Orginal KOTOR as far as i'm concerned. they should have finished kotor story and then made the mmo. now in a '300 years after kotor1' theme you cant really finish that story. kotor2 was half finished and now its going to be unfinished for all eternity lol.

They even talk about Revan and the exile going into unknown space...so dont get it twisted...this is KOTOR 3,4,5,6,7,8. Well said JP. While a new game couldn't replace what many of us found here (except maybe a new instalment of the JK series proper) a new mass multiplayer Star Wars title would be a good reason for many old friends or aquaintances from this site to play together again, or for members to get to know people they havn't spoken to before etc.
Of course this all depends on what the game will be like, though its fairly easy to be confident when its Bioware developing. There is still the question of whether this is to be a KotOR game though, its known that Bioware are making a LA title, and its 90% certain its Star Wars, beyond that its still guesswork. Even if its very likely correct guesswork. We'll find out on the 21st. well no doubt, the experiences we shared here can never be recreated, it was a once and a lifetime thing...what im talking about is playing, hanging, having fun together, not just the rush of new ppl who are still clinging to a dead game, but the oldbies long gone and the newbies alike. Doing what this community did and will continue to do. Enjoy Star wars and its many games. While it wont be offically run I know i will be running a guild just like i did in WoW and WAR and will have open invites to all JA members. The key is to surround yourself with cool ass ppl who will make your gaming experience more fun. Who better to do that then the quirky people you know and love from the good ol' JA.
Since we haven't heard a word about a new JK style game in ages and our closest thing was TFU which never made it PC or have any bloody multi at all. I'd love to use what we will have to bring TJA 2gether. Something hasn't been done since oh...JK3 was released.
