Got this rumor from Wikipedia: Quote: On April 25th, 2007, a rumor came about that BioWare was secretly in development on a Knights of the Old Republic MMORPG. Stemming from the latest issue of EGM, the rumor contained little information to support the claim. However, investigation into the matter reveals that there is more to the rumor than EGM's single suggestion. In early 2006 BioWare opened an Austin branch to develop an unnamed MMORPG. This alone confirmed an inevitable BioWare MMO, but the choice of Richard Vogel as a leader of the project is what largely suggest that the currently unnamed MMO is set in the KOTOR universe. Vogel was one of the project leaders behind the sci-fi MMO Star Wars Galaxies. SWG was held down by being set in a universe where continuity prevented any true story development (such as seen in WoW) and SOE assuming creative control eventually caused the removal of the things that had kept SWG's hardcore fanbase playing among them the skill tree system, which allowed for more customizable characters and drastic changes to the game's combat and character profession selection.

i was a bit disappointed when they said the force unleashed wasn't going to be on pc, with the new gaming technology inside it, but i think that Kotor 3 will definitely have the same, if not better technology in it so im really looking forward to this, or any SW games release from this point onwards, and anything to improve activity cant be all bad. _______________ Peace is a lie, there is only passion. JK4 will prob never happen (unless its YEARS from now)...the Jedi Knight Community as a whole down to maybe a hundred. A new star wars MMO of any sort, KOTOR or not would bring thousands of players to our community. As 98% of the people i know/knew here no longer play any of the JK series, having many of them back playing the same game together would be my main reason above all else that I'd LOVE to see a KOTOR MMO. Hell i'll ever take the Force Unleashed on PC, something to get the community active. You gota love a disgruntled former employee who's not afraid of being sued for breaking an NDA, or one just to stupid to realise it's still valid after they've been given the sack. 
I'm not sure what they we're talking about with the Wii Lightsaber game, they did mention that TFU for the Wii was pushed back due to the changes with Lucasarts and I would think that with the release of TCW in mid August you would wont the game out around the same time, unless they release it when the TV series starts. There was also talk of a dedicated Lightsaber game for the Wii but that was long before talk of TCW game, so I would assume it was that, that was being talked about I cant see them having 3 Star Wars games for the Wii out around the same time. As for a KOTOR MMO, it's still wait and see as far as I'm concerned, but at least it's looking better than before. As for KOTOR MMO replacing the JK series here I wouldn't totally rule it out, I'm sure we'll embrace it here to some degree if it happens but not a complete change over. _______________ *CLICKEH->Never risk the Fett Man|*Download my Saber here. Not likely Aidan as the admins here have tended to stick to the JK series instead of branching out to other games. Especially MMOG's. More likely certain people here would play it together.
On the rumour: Well its still that, another rumour. However it does have weight behind it. The only point I find suspicious is that the news is coming from only one of the fired empoyees. Should it be true well... i'll be disappointed. I have a daft amount of faith in Bioware, but the simple fact is we need a final RPG to wrap up the story left by TSL. I actually think immortalising the KotORverse as an MMOG is a wonderful idea... so long as we get Revan's story beforehand. Still would still beat the current SWG. It could easily be better than SWG ever was. However until we get official confirmation i'm staying suspicious of the details. We know its coming in some shape or form though, that seems almost certain now. The Wii game is probably the game i have posted a thread about. Could be good, probably be mediocre. Battlefront 3... well this is funny news for me personally. Years ago now I desperately wanted Free Radical to make a new Star Wars shooter, and even wrote up ideas in my spare time (based on Timesplitters format). Now they ARE making one, but off the back of their worst ever shooter. I think KotOR 1's story had more polish to it, and was perhaps a better straight story. However TSL was fantastically complex and had a lot of depth. I liked the way it tied things together and left room for a great final act.

However it would not be the first time someone at Bioware has denied knowledge of something that exists because they can't talk about it yet. LA should really get Obsidian to do it again. They did a good job with TSL, and if anything the story was richer than the first (just without that twist). The script's description of the game reads: "This is a role-playing game set in the historical past of the Star Wars universe. Jedi and Sith battle across the galaxy with the power of the Force and are joined by soldiers, politicians and nobles. Players must choose the destinies of heroes and villains in a thrilling and dangerous universe." Historical past? Jedi and Sith battling across the galaxy? To we Star Wars nerds, that sounds quite a bit like the "Old Republic" timeline, which BioWare Senior Writer Drew Karpyshyn helped flesh out with the KOTOR series and by penning the Darth Bane novels. The script goes on to show an exchange between the player and a character named Fuse, a naive bomb designer. The portions of the script that we received are fairly heavy with dialog, which isn't typical for an MMORPG, but it does read very much like a script to a KOTOR game. This could mean that the two projects are still separate. On the other hand, the game was described to the tipster as an MMO, and "heavy dialog" is practically BioWare's calling card." All seems a bit unclear, but further suggest some kind of KotOR game is in the works. Dialogue heavy dosn't sound like an MMORPG though, so maybe we'll get lucky and its a confusion of two projects, or the next KotOR game includes online features. This on top of the fact they almost made a KotOR game instead of TFU and also that the Darth Bane novels have been selling well suggests to me that a game will come sooner than later. Perhaps after TFU is out of the way.
