I'm also going to go with the whole, "His ending was anti-climactic," thing. It was tense. It was shocking! It was the moment that all other moments lead up to! The final battle against Voldemort!!!

Quote: I really loved the entire series, and ok there are a few moments here and there that make you say 'Whu?' but I am sad to see the back of them.
One thing I need to ask about the Deadly Hallows though is where the hell did Neville get the sword of Gryffindor from? The flaming sorting hat on top of his head I believe. I do think that part was pretty bad a**. Neville stood up to the most powerful wizard and taught him a lesson. This comment was edited by Tallepyon on Aug 31 2007 05:10pm. |

Rofl at that! I loved the book looooooved it, I'm sad it's over. I'll probably reread the whole serie when I forget exactly what happened in every book. I also thought the part when they were running around the forest camping was boring but at least she managed to convey the feeling they felt. And I got a LOTR feel with the locket (was it a locket or what was it? I forgot). I loved the part when Harry accepts that he has to die and I cried when he used the stone to bring forth his parents, Tonks, Lupin and Sirius. Errrr...what else.....nup. That's all |

Pros? Really good book, great final entry, nice explanations and I love the way everything fits together neatly. Am reading back through all the books again, i like all the little bits you wouldnt have noticed before.
Cons? The final few pages were written as though she had instantly invented perpetual motion and wanted to get away from writing ASAP. Either way... Quote: Weird, that was my favorite part of the book probably. I think it would have destroyed the whole moral of the book if they had had a real fight. Harry hadn't even finished his schooling, so it wouldn't have made any sense for him to be able to compete with Voldemorts powers. Instead he beat him with his wits. The whole scene leading up to Voldemort's death was top notch IMO, with all the different races and groups putting aside their differences to beat the ass of some Death Eaters. And the conversation between Harry and Voldy leading up to his death was great. I agree, I really liked that part. _______________ I have beaten The Internet. The end guy was hard. |

Quote: - the final fight between harry and voldemort was just plain disappointing. i was expecting some sort of clash of the titans, or something very unexpected to happen to the elder wand as the duel progressed, but the whole thing lasted about two seconds. two curses shot at each other, one backfires and bad guy dies. hardly epic and a crappy way to finish what we as the audience knew had long been in the making for literally ten years. finished it a few hours ago. few points off the top of my head:
- the snape chapter was i think the most interesting out of the whole book and really tied together a lot of loose ends, not to mention that after seven books i finally liked the guy for more than his "i'm-a-bad-mutha" demeanour. - the chapters where harry ron and hermione were just roaming around from one campsite to another for months on end got a little boring and tedious after a while. at that point of the book i was wondering whether it would ever get exciting and found myself grumbling about what an anti-climax this last book was. - the whole idea of the deathly hallows, to me, was kind of unnecessary and altogether distracted and detracted from the exciting quest for the horcruxes. the book could have done without them. although admittedly, without them, we wouldn't have found out about harry's ancestry and dumbledore's past, both of which i was curious about. - the final fight between harry and voldemort was just plain disappointing. i was expecting some sort of clash of the titans, or something very unexpected to happen to the elder wand as the duel progressed, but the whole thing lasted about two seconds. two curses shot at each other, one backfires and bad guy dies. hardly epic and a crappy way to finish what we as the audience knew had long been in the making for literally ten years. - probably could have done a little more with draco malfoy in the end, but even without, i think the point was made clear as someones already said. he is grateful that harry and co. saved his life and so they are no longer enemies, but not exactly best friends either. - i thought it was a little strange that jk rowling made no mention of george at all after fred died, since that was the breaking apart of the most comical team of the series. i dont know what i was expecting really, maybe some mention of george's grief? of the breaking apart of the weasley family? it just felt weird that they'd mention mr and mrs weasleys tears, but not fred's "other half". - remus we saw again when harry used the resurrection stone, but i take it tonks was not too important a character to really have been mentioned after her death? - the final chapter i also found a little disconcerting. i get the reasoning behind it, i get how they wanted to finish off the series with thoughts of the new generation and the peaceful world they now live in because of harry and the others, but it felt wrong. to me the harry potter series was always about harry etc as teenagers themselves, their times in hogwarts. the focus was always on them. once their children are off to hogwarts, they're put on the backburner and so the focus shifts. i get it, that's the whole point, but i still didn't like it. - at the beginning hermione transforms into harry after taking polyjuice potion. she remarks that harry's eyesight is poor. why does she, or other people, never mention something more like "hey, would you look at that, i've got a PENIS!" Quote: The chapter on Snape was perfect IMO
Definitely. It explained a lot about Snape, and to an extent why Petunia was so appalled by magic. It also revealed that " that boy" who Petunia overheard telling Lily about the Dementors was actually Severus and not James. Quote: Yea I was half-expecting Draco and Harry to end up being friends in the epilogue. But she didn't say much about that.
She didn't say much about that because she didn't really need to. I think that Draco was grateful that Harry saved his life, and although they weren't really friends, they stopped hating each other because of it Draco did a lot of growing up in the series, and I personally think that he changed a lot. I've been thinking about his wife at King's Cross in the epilogue.. to be honest, I think that he might have given up the " Toujours Pur" philosophy of the pureblood's and his mother's family, and maybe even have married a muggle-born witch. I know I'm sort of expecting a lot, but I'm allowed to my own opinion on that. At least until J.K. Yeah I didnt see what killing of Lupin and Tonks added to the story, two of my favourite characters killed off in the backround - not happy, but the two things about the book that annoyed me the most is how harry didnt use the killing curse on ANYONE and how draco malfoy just walks away like nothing ever happened. _______________ I was a child when I joined the JA...scary. I truely hated some of the death in the book. I mean.. Hedwig, Fred, Tonks and Lupin.. Damn it! =( Truely made me sobb.. Though the deathly hallows weren't exactly the most important things in the book, I think that she wrote a pretty impressive and outstanding book. A worthy closure to the series.
