You donate CPU time, by downloading the BOINC client, making an account @ World community grid,and then you launch the BOINC client connect to WCG(world community grid) Enter your account info, and it will automatically do scientific calculations.
Every workload that gets finished will get sent to WCG and help them calculate...Whatever the project is supposed to calculate.

So your computer does something useful for humanity,instead of just laying there like the piece of circuits it is.
