Today at noon a high school student opened fire in the schoolroom of a high school in the town of Vantaa, a neighbour to Finland's capital, Helsinki. He killed seven students and the school's principal before shooting himself in the head. The shooter survived, but is fighting for his life in the ER of a Helsinki hospital.
This is a terrible tragedy in a country like Finland, where this kind of violence is portrayed only in TV and news from abroad. The shooter claimed allegience to neo-Nazi idealism and had boasted about his plan in the Internet just the previous day, though sadly his threats weren't taken seriously.
