A new era of Star Wars entertainment begins in 2008 when Star Wars: The Clone Wars, from creator George Lucas, premieres as an all-new feature film in August, followed by the television series debut in the fall, in a partnership announced today between Lucasfilm Ltd., Warner Bros. Pictures and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. Produced by Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars: The Clone Wars takes audiences on incredible new Star Wars adventures, combining the legendary storytelling of Lucasfilm with an eye-popping, signature animation style. Star Wars: The Clone Wars will open in North American theaters Friday, August 15. International release dates will be announced soon. Ive actually been meaning to watch this but we dont have sky movies here anymore; (We didn't watch it enough so we cancled it.) So i may have to wait till a dvd launch or torrent it. None legal. Its on Sky Movies, which is why I havn't been following it, because its premium content its unlikely it'll ever be free to watch in the UK. The fact its on Movies is even more annoying, because while I have Sky, I never picked up that package due to having an insane DVD collection.

Is it because he was a whiney farm boy from some backwater hack planet? No, it's because he was a FREAKING JEDI. He could block lasers with his lightsaber. He could levitate droids & rocks & crap with his mind. Come on, he choked two pig dudes with just a simple gesture. He cut off Darth Vader's hand and kicked him down a flight of stairs. He got his @$$ zapped by lightning from the geezer Emperor, stood up and said "s'at all you got b!tc#??" |

A post RotJ animation could work, but really I think its best left to the games, books and comics at this point. There is just too much pre-established continuity there now, both good and bad.
That said i'm looking forward to them getting over the Clone Wars blitz, while I enjoyed the film and expect to enjoy the tv series, I feel the PT era has been gone over far too much by now. The Dark Times era is shaping up nicely though, not thats there is much in it yet. A few good books, TFU (which had an excellent story), a comic series I think though I havn't read it; and of course the live action tv series. There are so many stories to be told outside of the Skywalker line and THATS what i want to see, which is why I'm so excited bout these clone wars and live action series. I'd rather see something like this. Lucas has to move beyond Annakin and tell the tale of Luke passing on what he has learned. Problem is, George Lucas will have to share the money with the authors of some of the Star Wars books, so Lucasfilm will be mired in Clone Wars retellings and the time between then and Episode 4, ad nauseum. And I'll probably buy the bloody Clone Wars DVD's when they come out, sucker that I am. _______________ American dollars are worth less than Imperial credits. My first thought at the time was that it didn't sound like JW, as it was so different. However I thought I saw his name in the credits and so presumed it was him afterall. Must have just been crediting him for those samples from the previous films. The Clone Wars: Much better than I thought it would be. Its obviously aimed at a younger audience than the films, but in some ways works better for that rather than sneaking in Ewoks or Jar Jar into a more mature plot. Ahsoka and the Huttling are not abnoxious or annoying (well, mainly), and the plot works despite being a bit on the thin side. I also rate the voice acting, with Matt Lanter doing a good job with Anakin Skywalker.
Lastly I really liked those times when it dipped into more adult moments, such as the foreshadowing and darkness of Anakin's return to Tatooine among others. The score here really raises itself to the occasion and in my opinion is some of John Williams finest work on Star Wars. It has real variety, such as the mysterious choral sounds of the monastry, or the stand out homage to the Episode IV cantina - replete with Bith jazz band. Worth watching if you are a Star Wars fan, or like light hearted kids films in general.
