First off, big thanks to Fullmetal who brought this up on IRC.
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7254078.stm First words to pop out of my mouth (*typed by my fingers) we're "Holy" and "Shiet". This thing really blows my mind. We immidiately started brainstorming ideas where this new technology could make a really big mark on how we play our games. Sure, most people will think about how they could use that headset to, by their own mind, make a face at Saucer for liking the weiner too much. But what we're interested in, are the possibilities of this technology if used in perhaps forthcoming Star Wars games. I think we even mentioned that now they could revive the JK -series to create something truly spectacular. Just think about it, to actually use your own mind and concentrating on pushing Tallepyon down the pit with no clicks on the keyboard what-so-ever. Even the magnitude and effect on force-attacks could be determined by the amount you actually manage to concentrate on them. This is a Star Wars fan's dream come true if you ask me. There is virtually an endless list of games that this technology could prove ground-breaking in. Just imagine a DragonBall -type of game where you can actually create your energy-attacks and improve their strength by just using your own mental abilities. Even frustration and anger would show in games like these, making your attacks far more powerful and simultaneously make it harder to hit your opponent etc etc. In conclusion, this is something I'm really looking forward to. And I know many of you will share my enthusiasm toward this brilliant new concept. As well as many of you will criticize it for numerous varying reasons. At the end of the day, tomorrow will come. Flop or the future? I'll let you decide. AI reading my mind? damn id probably put this helmet on my dog when playing scary games. It would be kind of cool to go see your character lick a zombie. I wonder how the AI would react to that. |

Like I'm sure many of us get scared for real playing a game, just for a brief second if you're low on HP or exploring a dark room and something jumps out. (read: resident evil)
Those reactions would be taken in to account by the game, and would make the AI respond in a more realistic way. Nobody of us wants to let go of the keyboard and mouse, quite frankly nothing comes close in precision.
