Moving to other planets is a whole new playing field. Just living out in space is a less theoretical possibility.
As it has been proved, ignorance is subdued by discovery. Humanity is still discovering and our ignorance becomes more transparent with each passing phase of discovery. I hope we grow out of the solar system, galaxy and so on. Maybe humanity will figure out what faith in their own is also. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

It's possible. But don't expect this to happen during OUR lifetime. Technology advances such as this usually take years and terra-forming takes centuries.

With obvious technological infancy and end-of-the-wold scenarios put aside, general space travel as a means for shelter and habitat would take quite a few general steps.
Primarily we would have to harvest resources (namely ore) through other planets or most likely the asteroid belt. That alone would likely require near-light travel or usage of the whole warp theory. Sadly, in our lifetimes, we would likely only see baby steps into this process such as maintaining a fusion reaction and simplified short-range space travel. But then, technology always surprises people. The B-2 was seen as an alien like craft (many people still accuse it of using alien technology) and still is considered the most advanced declassified aircraft out there. Although the JSF and Raptor are probably a little passed the B2 and whatever new MiG Russia has under their sleeves. Anyways, two factors will give you varied answers: Which direction will we go in terms of space exploration and will there be any big booms in technology along the way. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |
