Malky, its not over yet. There is actually still fighting going on, even in Baghdad. Yeah mistral but the Iraqi information minister also says that Kansas won the NCAA championship  . But seriously he's also said that we weren't dropping bombs on baghdad, just using big speakers to play the sounds. He also claimed that American soldiers were committing suicide because we were losing. And that the tanks rolling through baghdad on footage taken by reporters was just hollywood smoke and mirrors. Now no offense but Hollywood would have done a much better job. The explosions would have been big fireballs not just flames with dark smoke, and there would be bodies flying everywhere with much more dramatic camera angles.
Also Mistral, after Germany fell in WW2 a lot of the SS officers just disappeared. They just fade back into society. Eventually though I don't think some of the paramilitaries will stay hidden for some time, but they hurt a lot of their fellow countrymen and they probably won't protect them forever if at all because of the atrocities they did. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Yeah DJ, I fear there's a lot more violence to come . It was kinda like the Berlin Wall Billy, the difference is I don't think the good feeling is quite as widespread as we're led to believe. Still good to see that statue torn down. Reminded me of the end of ROTJ.
One thing that's worrying is the disappearance of all the "police" and Republican Guard. Where are they? Why was the Iraqi Information(Disinformation) Minister claiming yesterday that "the Americans will burn in their tanks"? He's probably talking crap as usual but I've just watched Sum Of All Fears and I'm paranoid  . |

From what they said on the news, they're only looting government and Ba'ath(sp?) party buildings and vehicles. That's fine by me!

Well Ulic the hitting the statue with their slippers is a big insult there. Its considered insulting if you are sitting down and you even point the soles of your shoes at someone. Iraq is still a muslim society and women aren't really equal in it to men so don't really expect to see a lof of women out there celebrating with the men yet. And looting is really expected although its not something that should occur. Afterall we basically went in there and destroyed the authority and order the people have been governed by for so long. It was a brutal and harsh order but now there's none. New order will have to be implemented. And I don't know about you but I don't want to hear about US troops gunning down the people they've freed that are looting some areas and I don't think that the troops would want to do that either since that puts them on no better ground than the monsters that were working under Saddam. _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill. Yeah the coalition pretty muc has control of Baghdad and Basrah as well as a lot of other points in the country. Now comes getting things under order. There is looting going on in Basrah, and there will be other conflicts going on. We've lost more US soldiers in Afghanistan during the peace than we did in the main conflicts against the taliban and al quaeda. We didn't just knock the statue down though. Iraqi's took the head and were pulling it around and riding on it. What I love the best about what I have seen though has been some of the reporters at Press conferences. Sounding like children asking Rumsfeld "Are we there yet? are we there yet? This isn't what was in the war plan." Rumsfeld responding to them "I didn't realize that you had a copy of the war plan" Also that one stupid journalist going on Iraqi television and saying that clearly the US war plan has failed and they are scrambling to make up a new one. I think he said that close to the midpoint of this conflict so far. well, that statue has fallen, but theres snipers everywhere, so, it will take some time until Bagdad is unter complete allied control.
