Jk2/Jk3 problems in Windows Vista | |

I have both games allowed in Windows Firewall. I can play all other games on multiplayer. Quakeworld, quake 3, quake 4, all work fine on MP. But, on jk2/Jk3 I cannot get servers to show.
I tried to add Euro Home to favourites to see what would happen. It just showed up as the IP, not server name, and I could not connect. After, I decided to try xfire to see if I could connect via the auto join. Now, I cannot connect to Xfire. After I click login, it will just keep counting down until it gets to 0, and then retry. What am I doing wrong? |

As for Linux, the drivers are free. I am having errors installing it, but my girlfriend's brother just happens to be an IT who has used Linux since the mid 90's. He said he should be able to help me with running games etc in Linux. Seems good so far I meant free as in speech, not free as in beer. _______________ Joined 16 October 2004 | Retired 10 April 2005 | Returned 05 June 2008 | Made Staff 27 June 2008 | Made Council 18 January 2009 Padawan To Odan-Wei Belouve | Adopted into the Belouve family | Twin to xAnAtOs | Owner of the 4th Quesi sexy badge Brother To Roan Belouve, Nomad, Majno, Silkmonkey, Kensei and Jarhok Belouve Owner Of Virtue's 1000th profile comment, Mr. Doobie's 1000th profile comment, Gradius' 2500th comment, xAnAtOs' 2500th comment, Rosered's 1500th comment, Laziana's 900th comment, Scythus' 500th comment and Echuu's 100th comment |

Obvious answer: Install XP.
If you wish to use linux to run JA:JA, you will need the non-free Nvidia drivers and Wine. _______________ Joined 16 October 2004 | Retired 10 April 2005 | Returned 05 June 2008 | Made Staff 27 June 2008 | Made Council 18 January 2009 Padawan To Odan-Wei Belouve | Adopted into the Belouve family | Twin to xAnAtOs | Owner of the 4th Quesi sexy badge Brother To Roan Belouve, Nomad, Majno, Silkmonkey, Kensei and Jarhok Belouve Owner Of Virtue's 1000th profile comment, Mr. Doobie's 1000th profile comment, Gradius' 2500th comment, xAnAtOs' 2500th comment, Rosered's 1500th comment, Laziana's 900th comment, Scythus' 500th comment and Echuu's 100th comment |

If anyone could help me run games well under Linux, that would be very good.
I got Vista only due to not being able to run games in Linux. Since that failed, I am going to attempt Linux. 2 GB of RAM Geforce 8400 GS graphics card Ubuntu Linux 8.04 ^ if someone could help me run games under those settings, I would be quite thankful. |

That's a shame; there are others here that play JKA on Vista here so I'm sure they can help you more than me. In the meantime, I suppose you can poke around and see if there is a solution within view. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

No luck =/ |

I don't know much about making everything work on Vista, but you could right click the JKA shortcut and set compatibility to Windows XP SP2. A lot of people can play on Vista so I don't think that will help. Worth a shot anyways. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." |

I have. I even tried taking down the firewall as well as my antivirus at the same time. No luck at all =/ |

Have you tried without a firewall on? _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." This comment was edited by Augusta_Mintaka on Aug 20 2008 10:05pm. |
