So we have a 'What are you listening too' thread, and a music reccomendation thread. So why not just have a general discussion thread for music and such.

Feel free to post your personal favorites, lists, criticisms and so on.

First suggestion: Most under-rated and Over-rated bands or artists!

go, shoot, shoot, shoot!

Nicely done, you just put down the 3 biggest mainstream emo bands aswell as some idiot with no talent. /clap xD.

but yeh, i have a very big distaste for MCR.. they annoy the living shits out of me. RHCP i don't think RHCP really that over-rated simply because they constantly churn out great music, flea is by far the best member of the band though. And with Serj (the system singer) he can actually sing, as proven by his solo s=career.. but i do think SOAD are over-rated.

The chromatic collection, the very foundational structure of music, is itself a reflection of the universe, and through the interplay of octaves, tritones, dominant and sub-dominant keys, it presents us with endless analogy; the beginning is the end, the end is the beginning, opposites (tritones) unite to form singularities (octaves), singularities break up into opposites - all points are interconnected within a continuum. At its very core, the tonal system is about complementary opposites that balance and frame our very existence: synchrony and diachrony, rise and fall, tension and release, activity and inactivity, struggle and repose, the turmoil of life and the eternal rest of death.

How can that possibly reflect of any the bands mentioned below? In my humble opinion, Classical, instrumental music can sometimes represent the
"synchrony and diachrony, rise and fall, tension and release, activity and inactivity, struggle and repose, the turmoil of life and the eternal rest of death".

Not many of the talentless morons of music in now-a-days even come close.

WORD!

To list a few that shouldn't have been awarded a recording contract;

Him
My Chemical Romance
Fall Out Boy
Panic at the Disco
and Bloc Party. alhough thier first album was pretty good.

The chilli's guitarist was so much better when he was smashed of his face on drugs. Since he's gone clean, musically they've failed to inspire me as they once did.
