So..my best friend overdosed on heroin a week ago..and it was kind of with the heroin i ordered for newyear..so if you get the picture i just want to hide behind my computer for a while...i think i will try some classes here again..do you people still have rp things going on?
i have tried so many games..but the gaming scene is just wasted these days..i'm now spending my days on a empty rp server in some mmorpg with a tiny community..to afraid to jump onto some mainstream mmo knowing that its full with little kiddies who take joy in trolling and starting huge wars of flames...stupid firestarters >.>. anyway..i used to also be very active in the SOF2 scene..but that kind of died out too (all games with the quake engine were great) ..atleast it did when i checked 3 years ago. counterstrike source..believe it our not..all the great communities of modders and mappers are gone..css has been mainstreamed (atleast all my usual servers were either gone or empty last time i checked) ..i was thinking about checking out dark age of camelot..but i guess that is dead too! omg..anyone knows a great place that is not dead and where people of a older generation can do some decent gaming like we used to do..like..5 years ago :p. _______________ The eternal quest for purpose. my art portfolio: www.redbubble.com/people/pellinore |

I have a better question: Why go through life intoxicated? There's plenty of productive things you can do, but it's not going to be very productive if you're intoxicated. Think of all the things you can contribute to and make better if you're sober. Plenty of people enjoy their lives, just depends what kind of life you have. 
I know you know all this, but if you don't like something in your life then you should change it completely and as fast as you can. When there's stress you should just deal with it in a sober way that upgrades you rather than something that degrades you like drugs. Like games.

Sorry for your loss.
With that said, use it as the world's best excuse to get yourself into some form of rehibiliation, stop associating with those who abuse drugs and generally stop being such a dummy. If you can't deal with life whilst sober, you're doing it all wrong son! |

My point is, everyone's got their thing going on, so let's focus on the positives. Pellinore, I've lost a friend to a heroin OD and have had others in state prison for it. SC2 seems to have nice people, like when you play together with someone fun in a 2vs2 match you just add them to your friendlist so you have people avaible for 2vs2 matches of who you know are fun.

Um, just one last post of digression. I was, quite frankly, shocked at how tactless and too-soon (as if there is ever a good time) this post was responded to. It would be one thing if he said, "Yeah, I OD'ed the bastard, and I would do it again if I had to." But he didn't. He is clearly distraught with these unforeseeable events and he is going to the computer for escapism.
That's the whole point. Everybody resorts to something to get their mind off a matter that upsets them. This is his way of coping with it, and he needs to cope because spending every waking moment feeling guilty doesn't help anybody. Making the suggestion that he should doesn't help anybody either. If you're going to speak out, you should only be empathetic, because it is nobody's place to judge him. Anyway. As far as I know, Dark Age of Camelot isn't "dead" (it's making even more money than Mythic's newer MMO Warhammer). I mean, I'm almost positive that it doesn't have the same numbers that it used to (I haven't played it in many many years), but as far as I know it seems to be doing pretty well for its age. I would be reviving me some DAoC play time but I accidentally already took the name "Lianiotte" on one of the RP servers with an account I don't have access to (d'oh!) I'm very anal when it comes to names, so that pretty much killed it for me. Since you mentioned you want to stay away from the kiddy scene, I would think that SC2 is probably something you want to avoid (all Blizzard games are filled to the brim with annoying children) but I wouldn't know because I didn't buy SC2 because I refused to pay the extra $10. I might have paid the all-out $60 if it was a Bioware game or something, but WoW made me totally lose respect for Blizzard because it changed my perception of them from a solid video game developing company to a bunch of annoying video game nerds who like to make fart jokes and perpetuate internet memes. I don't really have anything else at the top of my head, though. Have fun with whatever direction you choose to go in. When it's done I'll be picking up GW2 and I will also be writhing in ecstasy when TOR comes out. _______________ slorp |

Purchasing Starcraft 2 was the best decision you could have made, second only to ditching drugs. Like Talleypyon said, everybody makes mistakes. I don't want to sound preachy, but you might not want to judge him so hastily. Drugs are a social norm and heroine is as common as marijuana in some areas. There are many reasons to begin using the drug, but continuation is usually inevitable as the body will hastily develop an extreme physical and mental need for the drug. Many people who use the drug are not bad and an overdose is sadly a very typical thing with heroine use.
We don't have the understanding or right to judge him. What happened to his friend is very unfortunate and my heart goes out to him, but it is a complicated matter that you can't just hastily judge a person on. I know I personally do not have the experience on the issue myself, so I have no intentions of that. No one is perfect and everyone makes mistakes. sorry...i got very upset.. i have a appointment with someone in a few hours..to talk about it..i havn't shared all the facts and things yet..and so much things are making me feel guilty..like i remember one day before the OD he insisted very hard on talking with me..wich was weird in the first place..and maybe if.. i don't know.. you know you people.. its just sad that not everyone can be open and understanding..i am trying to be understanding myself alot..and well..i guess i blame the internet itself..maybe try acting more as if you are talking to someone who is real. i'm going to resign from the fora and just get in contact with the people i used to know..long time ago.
edit: and he contacted a dealer he knew for the heroin, but it was i who wanted to do it..instead he did it himself. It's easy to judge you, you just admited to buying the drugs and supplying them to your friend who then went and overdosed on them and died, and you want to run away and hide ? how about you go and face up to everything you've done instead of hide behind your pc, go and explain to the parents of the guy what you did and that you "need a little break". You're right, you shouldn't be doing drugs because this is what actually happens. It's a monster and an evil however much you realise it. Keep away from that stuff and talk to your doctor if you have a problem. They should be able to help you with counseling/rehabilitation. Quote: You two are idiots.
I don't think that they are idiots, but I think it's important for them to realise how emotionally taken aback you are right now and also how difficult it is for people in your situation. It's not very nice to label him this way guys because these situations tend to "trap" people in them and it's very difficult for people to get out of it. It's important to support him and point out politely if you think he's wrong because it's very hard for him right now and it's not easy in his circumstances to do the right thing.
