Suppose you are in a game show. There are two doors that are in front of you. One door leads to nothing the other door leads to 2 million units of exchange.
In front of each door is a man. One man always lies, the other always tells the truth. You do not know which lies and which tells the truth. You can only ask one question to either of them. You cannot ask one question each however. Just one question in total. What question can you ask to ensure which door has the 2 million units of exchange? _______________ New -[DE]- Site. |

If you asked the person who told the truth then he will say the other person will pick the door with nothing behind it. If you asked the liar, he will also say the other will say the door with nothing behind it. Either one will point to the wrong door if you ask them that question so you pick the opposite.
Analysis: Truth teller stands behind right door, liar stands behind wrong door. Question: What door would the other person say had the prize behind. Liar answer: Wrong door, because the truth teller would say the right door. Truth teller answer: Wrong door, because the liar would say the wrong door. Conclusion: They will both point to the wrong door, so just pick the opposite. _______________ "Deos fortioribus adesse." This comment was edited by Augusta_Mintaka on Jan 28 2011 07:30pm. |

No because the guy who tells the truth would say the right door and the guy who lies would say the wrong door. Either way you still have a 50/50. _______________ New -[DE]- Site. |
