If so, you are in luck. A recent developer comment and hint has caused quite a few SWTOR players to solve the puzzle! This was all discussed and finally solved last night! Note, this is only to get the raw resource, still need a rare artifice schematic to make it. Supposedly, this schematic drops off the Belsavis world boss.
Link to thread The series of events required to get the resource are rather extensive. 1) Acquire some water from a vaporator on Tatooine (anyone may work?) 2) Ascend a high peak on Hoth with the water in your inventory to superfreeze it. 3) Activate a depleted crystal on Ilum to summon a mob who has the crystal. Now that's a weird statement. Anyway, there isn't anything unique about it on my server. A lot of Imperials use it already. I haven't seen too many on Republic side, but then again, I'm not really looking for it.
