I was trying to find out about just how many schematics you can get from reverse engineering when I found this rather excellent guide which answered pretty much everything I wanted to know.

I was a bit surprised to learn that for every green schematic you get off the trainer you can make 14(there may actually be a 15th but if there is that's currently bugged) different purples that are based on it.

The names are quite handy to learn too because as a tank you could keep an eye out for Veracity in an items name as that has +defence, +shield. Where as a healer would want to look out for something with Supremacy in it's name as that's +crit, +alacrity.

So even if you don't craft it's something nice to know as you can search for it on the AH.

Heh, no problem!
Yea, it is rather crazy how many schematics you can get as synthweaver, which my JK is maxed with. The amount of resources you have to devote to unlock all those schematics is crazy. I have a few of the special purples simply by luck after RE'ing an old purple.

Yeah I've taken a look at this guide recently after starting to use Synthweaving on my Sith.

I could tell, even early on, that there would be more to the RE portion of certain crew skills compared to others.

I have previously levelled Cybertech and as this guide affirms the RE element for that is a fair bit simpler.

In fact it may be worth noting in the OP that the 14/15 purples only applies to certain crafting crew skills.
