when I have the "video sync" thingy on, I only get 60 fps, altough my monitor is running at 85 hertz. now I'm no expert, but since it says "synchronizes frame rate with monitor refresh" under video sync, shouldn't that kinda mean that my game should be running at 85 fps? or am I just stupid, and should just stfu?

Windows2000 and WindowsXPlosion both have bugs, that will only allow 60fps (60hz) no matter what. All though it says that you use 85hz in windows, you don't. It's some bug that microsoft haven't patched (shame on them!), but you can download varies of refreshrate fix. Also, disable v-synch if you're running on a low-end computer, it will give you more fps :]

I think this is an win xp problem, it wouldn't let you go over 60fps. Download Rivatuner, a "60hz Refresh rate fix" is included in the program.

The 32 bit color depth could be the difference. 32 bit color is more memory intense than lower depths, using more of the system & monitor's capabilities.

Maybe your desktop is running on 16 bit, and JK2 on 32 bit?

no, thats the odd thing. I'm running 1024*768 @ 85 Hz on my comp. But I'm also playing jk2 in 1027*768... but there I only get 60 fps...

Refresh rates vary with different resolutions. Your monitor might be able to run 800x600 @ 85 Hz. but only 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz, on which you are probably running JK2.
