hum, im thinking of samurai X, memories Ok, if kenshin did throw shishio in jail, he knew that he would break out, and cause more rucus, so the only real way he could secure his loved ones, would be to stop him from breathing (killing him). About him making people happy; he did, untill he did mess up, then after a while, tomoe came somewhat happy (i have the feeling that after a while she came to like kenshin), then enishi (he just hated him from the beginning). But, i think, if kenshin just faught like he did as the hitokiri, which i remind you was very good, but he only killed those who he was sent to kill (to make them 'happy') and who were trying to kill him (both that crazy guy who owns him, the ninjas, and that poser with the sword on chains). Maybe im missing the point, but thats what im thinking of right now Edit: Also, about killing being bad. Yes it is, but he knows, that if he uses the Hiten Mitsurigi Ryu, you are to kill people. Remember what Hiko said..."The Sword is a weapon designed to kill! Kenjitsu is learning how to kill. No matter how you look at it, that is the simple truth" WHile kenshin accepts that, but he just reverses his sword (sakaba). Well, he knows, that even using the sakaba he could kill people. Kenshin merely wanted to make people happy, but when he killed someone in the first OVA, he ended up making someone so very sad, and it just spiraled, to piss the hell out of Enishi. Enishi comes back later on, and it is uber-cool. Gah! Why can't I ctalk about the last OVA, Seisou Hen, that came out last year in Japan, last month in the US? It answers so much, but I can so so little. Go rent it! Buy it! Samurai X: Reflections is the USA name. It will definately be worth the buy. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. First of all shishio did not have to die. there was a chance that kenshin would be able to somehow beat him within an inch of his life and then throw him in jail or, what the optomistic kenshin would probably be hoping fore, there was a chance that shishio would do what both kenshin and shishio's deciple (the little kid, i forgot his name) did. as for why he is afraid of killing the reason is two fold: 1: kenshin does not like killing becasue, for the early part of his life he killed a lot of people and he now recognizes that this is bad. in order to save lives, which if i remmember corectly, was his original goal when he became the hitokiri. 2: kenshin is both ashamed and frightened of his past. first, as was stated before, he realizes now that killing, in general is bad. second he realizes that for himself killing is a easy as breathing. he is afraid that if he kills again he will be unable to ever stop and his quest for forgivness for his evil past will fail. moreover i would like to point out that his fear of destruction of human life is so acute that in several cases he never actually attacks his opponent until there is no other option. i would be able to put some additional proof behind this, but for those of you who have not seen the final ova (that came out about a month ago in the usa i believe) i will only state that kauro makes note of a very important change in how kenshin fights. oh yeah kenshin might be the hero, but in my opinion saitou is far better.... but that is a post for a different time  |

Note: yes, kenshin does fight better when hes beaten up, only because he feels he has more to loose. The only time he didnt, was in the OAV, when he was Hitkoiri Battousai, that guy owned him, then ... i wont spoil it. But, ill tell you this WHy is kenshin scared of killing people? Shishio - he knew he had to die, so why didnt he bring along a proper sword to fight him? Seriously "I dont want to become the hitokiri battousai" "psh, hitokiri battousai wasnt a manslayer. Katsura was. THink about it. Kenshin killed because he had to, either to protect, or because he was told. Yes, I agree that Hiko is definately the best, but he is very reserved in his actions. You should see, um Saving Grace: A Superman vs. A Giant, I think it is Episode 62 or something. Hiko owns in that one, and ya get to see him without the cape. He's definately better built than Kenshin and Yoda combined. So Hiko is great, but I think Saitou is the best fighter. Then again, he's not really sexy, though he is the only one of the bunch that has a wife. "He has a WIFE?" hehe....you seen that episode? _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace.
