This is an extract by Manny of Weebl.jolt.co.uk. It says why you are all stupid hating Avril Lavigne. read before you comment: Why does everyone seem so eager to whine about how shitty Ms Lavigne is? It can't simply be the fact that her music is crap, because some people must be buying it. Has anyone actually met her in person, and so has a reason for this hatred? She could be a really nice person, or a total arsehole for all I know, but it doesnt affect me either way. In fact, I dont believe her existance affects me one bit. I don't care for her music at all, its just simply a genre I have no interest in. She doesn't live next door, playing her music at full volume everyday. She doesn't park her limo crooked, taking up disabled spaces at the local supermarket. She's not an evil building contractor wanting to tear down the local woods, to build a tyre burning plant, run by mutant pillaging pirates. But anyway, the reasons I suspect she has this travelling online procession of a lynchmob are as follows: She's turned your oh so precious alternative music culture into a mainstream genre. Now you see little 14 year old kids out buying Avril records at HMV, talking about how "kewl" she is in the seat behind you on the bus. Teenagers putting posters of her up in their room next to the likes of N-sync and Busted. That must REALLY upset you. Your little niche market has been converted into a multi-million dollar fishing ground by the big evil record companies. Jealousy. She's rich. Exceedingly rich. She got more money than the likes of whoever reads this piece of text will make in a lifetime (except maybe stick) and she's still only 17 years old. In your world of angst, where you never got enough pocket money when you were 10, that must leave a sickly sweet taste in your mouth. The record companies have exploited this image of punk/skater culture to the fullest extent, and done it very successfully. But YOU were there from the start! No one paid YOU any money to mope around all day being hardcore and listening to someone only a select clique have ever heard of. And that must really suck. And finally, beauty. I think we've all by now seen the infamous "sans make-up" photos. Holy shit! She's human after all! I think she should be congratulated, not lambasted, for getting ahead in an industry dominated by looks and cup-sizes. So she's not the most beautiful person in the world. And YOU are? I'm sure if she ever reads this and thinks "Oh nos! People are posting pictures of me looking ugly on an Internet message board!" She can console herself in the fact that she is a minger who has pulled off a good joke on the record industry and made enough money to indulge in a Scrooge Mcduck style money bin. Personally, I have listened to what she's had played on the radio. Her stuff is no different than that of Aquilera or Spears. She's just another ass-shaker. I have to agree with Loaf on the idea that I dislike her, but don't hate her. Hate implies to me that if you saw her on fire, you would go out of your way to throw gasoline on her. That you would do evil to her if you had the opportunity. I don't feel hate for her. I would offer my guidance and help. If the offered hand was bitten, then I would be on my way, leaving her to her own devices. At the risk of sounding a little condescending, hate is a bad thing. Avril is a foolish child in my eyes. Imagine how her life would change if that writer had retaliated by raping her. She's unaware of the consequences of her behavior, but you reap what you sow, and then some. Leave hate for more important things, like poverty, needless death, and human suffering. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

You guys... I'd like to make a point that this is what people WANT to hear. Otherwise why would so many people buy her records? Most of my friends love Arvil to no end, and I'm the only one who has reservations about her. Times are changing. Really. Things don't stay the same anymore. But still, people should be able to coexist in harmony, and not judged. Who are we to judge her? She's a bitch. So what? So am I, if not for the fact that I'm a *cough* guy. I know what this is all about, you know. It's beacuse her butt is big, isn't it? You would think that in a perfect society everyone should be accepted, as an equal, no matter what their faults. Selling 14 million records doen't make you a talented musician. Present company is of course excluded, but most young teenagers out there today are dumber than a bag full of nickels. I would tend to think of myself as a "punk rocker" of sorts. I could dedicate an entire forum to the "What is punk rock" question, so I'll stick to why Arvil sucks from my perspective. Avril's music is the pure unadulterated dribble that kids want to hear. The music isnt technically complex or innovative. Her lyrics aren't anything to write home about. This is why no one but the uninformed youth of today dig her stuff. She calls herself a punk rocker, but her actions and music make a mockery of all that could be understood as punk. Even her encounters with that reporter guy. Avril *does* serve as gateway music. Everyone's gotta start somewhere right? Arvil, Greenday, the Offspring, and even *shudder, puke, violent urges* sum41 can lead a kid onto greater things musically. Avril Lavinge is the bottom of the "punk rock" food chain. This guy obviously didn't have the "pleasure" of meeting her like that guy in Ash's post or read it. He's bitching about how all these punk rockers and stuff hate her because she's gone mainstream. Well I don't like punk. But she doesn't sound like punk to me. And I can compare her to N'Suck and the Backdoor Boys all I want, because I look at her the same way I look at them. I think what she did to that poor write (I think it was Ash who made the other thread) is as rude as it gets and that is the kind of behaviour you wouldn't expect from a star.
