... WARNING! ... If you read this thread you might expand your mind.. FRIENDS DONT LET FRIENDS THINK AND SURF!

In light of a conversation starting on #ja, I have decided to start a thread to contain my rantings and ludicris ideas on life and the world around us.
View this post at your own risk!!
---------------------------------------------

Dreams... we all have them. Some people cant remember them, but we all have them. They are essential to our existance.
Dreams are a by-product of our body's regeneration process that happens when we sleep. It is essential to our survival and our growth as humans, to dream every night.

Just because you dont remember your dreams, doesn't mean you dont have them.

Have you ever had a dream about a situation that hasn't happened yet? Something simple, like getting mail from an old friend you haven't talked to for a while, or something more complex like about your later-life?

Have you ever dreamed something and then it happened? (not deja-vu, but a pre-cognitive dream about a situation)

I think everyone has had this happen atleast once or twice in their life. The more you WANT to become aware of your dreams, the more you will be able to control your dreams, and control your destiny.

Try this experiment:
Before you goto bed (on a night that you can sleep in the next day) set your alarm for 3 hours and 30 minutes from the time you goto bed. The 30 minutes is to allow you to sleep, and the 3 hours is the first 2 cycles of sleep (into deep sleep, REM state and back out).
Put a notepad and a penicil next to your bed. All ready to write down when you wake up.

Before you sleep, think about something you want to dream about. Pick an adventure for you to go on. Plan to dream about being a Jedi Padawan and heading out to the outer rim on a reconnisince mission. Then lay down and focus on that. Think only about being a jedi, and going on your mission. Keep thinking of this until your fast asleep.

When you wake up, grab your pencil and start jotting down just some ideas about your dream.
DONT take too long, be awake for only about 2 minutes tops. Then turn off your alarm and go back to bed.

When you wake up, read what you wrote, and see if you remember more about the dream now.
See if the dream has now become a memory and a part of you.

Try this for 2 nights in a row (on a weekend maybe) and tell me what your dreams are about.

You wont nessisarily dream about what you wanted to, but write it down anyway, that is part of the test. See what your brain ended up coming up with when your sleeping.

I look forward to making this a good thread to follow.

-Huxley

I've had dreams where something happens, like say a friend gets into a car accident or something. I'll see the exact spot, who they are going to hit, everything. Then, 1 or 2 days later, they are driving a new car. I'm like "so what happened to the old one? Accident at 116th and 41st?"

I've done this 4 or 5 times. This one girl flipped out when I told her exactly what happened, especially cuz its a girl I never really talked to. She thought I was a witness or something. :D

Have you ever had that dream where you are outdoors and all of the sudden, you fall down a cliff? When you finally land, you see that you are in your bedroom, you check around, everything seems fine, so you do your day like you're suppose too. At the end of the day, you go outdoors and fall from a very very high cliff. It's so real that you can feel the air moving around you and the speed on you body. You suddendly land in your bed, do your day like you're suppose to do and again, at the end of the day fall from the cliff but when you're falling you hear the familliar buzzing sound of your alarm clock and you wake up (in real-life). You look around, everything seems fine, too fine:eek:... You do your day, but it's the same day than in the dream except that in the end, you fall in your bed, not from a cliff. During the day you know things you couldn't have known if you hadn't had that dream.....Happens to me too much :(

Another freaky dream i used to have: I was in my house and I had to go to the bathroom to pee. Each time I peeed, I peeed in my bed (I WAS 5!!). One night, I had the very same dream but I was able to wake up just before I peeed. Now I know: 1. I can control my dreams
2.I don't pee in my bed anymore :P

I remember only some of my dreams. But when I dream, the dream always requires some attention from me. Becasue I have the idea that some of my dreams want me to think about something or do something. I am a believer in a universal power (sort of the force, but you can't do all those nifty tricks) that you can learn to listen to and even connect to. My mother has the power to let wounds heal a lot faster. Most people don't believe it, but there has happened something to me (kinda hard to tell) that has forced me to believe it. If someone wants to know, post a comment on my profile, but only do it if you think you can have an open mind about it and trust that what I say is true. Too many people have laughed in my face about it.

There once was a creature that gave me the creeps.
This creature was fake, but was real to me.
He was small and brown, but not from this world.
A guy named Steven made him, his name was E.T.

That was a long time ago. ET scared the wits out of me. I had nightmares of E.T.s creepy breathing. I had nightmares of E.T. giving me a seizure. E.T. was always evil. He looked evil. I always woke up petrified. E.T. still creeps me out, but he doesn't scare me anymore. I just reassure myself that he's just a big walking turd.
LOL

Now...the current me. I used to dream a lot more. Lately...where did my dreams go? I don't dream anymore...almost NEVER. When I do dream, I treasure it for the moments that it was.

How about THIS? An actual DREAM that can be accomplished IRL. My dream is to move to Japan. I've always lived in Southern USA, but Japan feels like my home...strange, is it not? If I move there, my dream will be fulfilled. Guess what. Nihongo ga wakarimasu. I'm already working on my dream as you can tell. :D Wish me luck with all things relating to the word "dream". I wish everyone luck with their dreams.

Way cool. I've had dreams like that 2, when I am aware of myself. They usually end up with me flying (like force jumping, really) and everytime I try 2 make something really wicked happen, I lose the dream.
Like once, I dreamt about getting this great present, I can't remember what it was now, I tried to stay with it, but the moment I started giving commands to my subconcious mind, I woke up.
It really pisses me off, ya know?

hehe aeth cool stuff... i've had strange nightmares too. but i won't go into them right now. too much to type.. :D

you know i used to be scared of dogs too, but now i really love them! didn't have nightmares about them though. ;)

one time my sister (she's 11) was sleeping in my parents' bed. i walked in to ask my mom something. while i'm in there, my sister wakes up (or at least half) and says: "give me a pen, i need a pen." my mom and me are naturally a bit confused and ask her why she needs a pen. she just goes on: "gimme a pen, i need to write!" and she starts groping in the air, her eyes half-closed, looking for a pen around the bed. she seemed really serious about this. i was standing there looking at her, almost laughing. then suddenly, she falls back onto the pillow and is sound asleep. my mom and me just looked at each other and started laughing.

hehe she must have had some strange dream and started talking to us, still half in it. i hope i never do stuff like that when i sleep. ;)

i heared dreams are for your subconcious. your brain starts thinking about something you put away a this day and had no time thinking over it.

i have some strange experiences about dreaming, espcially nightmare:

i was frightened of dogs when i was a small boy. it started with one day a big dog, one of those evil looking fellas hunted me. and i say HUNTED. i ran away, and he followed me. i dont remeber the details, but i think he wanted to play. those day i talked to my parents. i said: "what would happen if the dog didnt stop??" they answered: "they dog would have maybe bite you. dogs do that when they play. i just went on saying, no, i could stand that dogs could bite you without you wanting it ;)
and i started dreaming about dogs. evil dream. i feared those dreams. i recognized everything, it happened agin and again. i started walking out our front door... and about 20 dogs came into the door, pushed me back, looked evil and deadly at me and i could not run. this momebt, the moment of fear and helpless panic... terrbile i say! and i last long, until i woke up.
one day it stoped. i did not fell, i faced the dogs :/ i never had the dream again. i have a different realtion to dogs since them. i look at them. i let them sniff at me, they usually go away after they took a look at your feet, i found out, lol.
but theese things let you think.

some other stuff... i had a dream that came again and again when i was young too. i took something in my mouth, and it grew! it grew and grew, i couldnt get rid of it. the dream ended with a feeling of puke. not nice :/
one day i heared my brother saying i spoke in my dream about it. i said words like: "you're too big, go away. you crush me" i laufghed about myslef and the dream is gone till then.

but the most weird thing that happened to me and dream was: i suddenly was in the bathroom, washing my hands. it felt just allright, everything was ok. then i realised my parents stood in the door and looked at me very strange. i asked them what they look but i did not understand what they say. they asked me what i did here, and i was very confused. it felt allright beeing in the bathrrom and washing my hands, whats special about it? my father carried me to my bed then, and in his arms i felt asleep. i had my nightmare again, the one with the thing that crushes me.
very much time late, i figued out what happened.
i must have had my crush. nightmare, walker DURING my nightmare in the bathroom and speaking as my brother told me. my parents must have heared me and it must have sounded that strange that they BOTH looked for me at about 2 am. i woke up by their noise and not realizing it was night, not realizing i had walked and forgot about my nightmare wondering what they wanted for me. in my fathers arms i felt asleep again and continued my nightmare.

creepy.
oh, and i gotta admit i dreamed from a beatuifull girl... and next day i met one. it is weird. almost everybody can tell you about a dream that came true. leaves you thinking...

last thing: my dreams usually stop at the best points. a monster is hunting me? i wake up JUST before it bites me. i see a lovely girl? i wake up JUST after she turned around and smiled at me. i only managed to continue my dream once. it was that cool, i thought about it half an hour, and forced me to sleep again and made it tokk get about 5 minutes extra ^_^

REALLY last thing: i always see me 3rd person :)

Right on Huxley! Referring to your other post where you stated the fact that we only use a portion of our brains:

Dreaming is essentially one part of our brain telling a story (maybe non-fiction) to another part of our brain. I think this necessity to dream is part of the reason we use just part of our brains in our conscious state. If we used all our brain how could one part tell the other an entertaining story. I also believe we glipse something closer to reality through our dreams, not the other way around. Peace out.

pike, dont control... (I never understood why Yoda told Luke that)
Just focus, and relax and do it. its simple!

I take vocal training lessons with this amazing teacher who taught and learned from the Broadway teaching in new york.
The more and more I learn how to sing 'correctly' utilizing the proper breathing techniques, the more I realize that people in general make things so complex and hard.

And its really not.

The 'domestication' makes us think that we aren't worth a shit, and we cant do things we want to do.

When you dream, dont TRY to control the dream
just control the dream...

just like that... nice and easy

the dream controling is a good excercise for controlling your life, and making things happen.

I have found that if you want something to happen and you TRULY believe in it... it will happen...

But now *Im* getting off topic :)

Ah yes, I have had many dreams that I can't control that just wont let me wake up. For a while I was able to conciously control my entire dreams, and change them as I wanted to during my dream. This was prior to the movie Matrix coming out, I was about 14 or 15 at the time, and studying dreams in highschool. It was great! For like atleast a full year I was completly aware of my dreams, while I was in my dreams and I could move and manipulate them as I saw fit.

What seemed to work for me is 'noticing' certain things that were wrong in the dream, to realize I was in a dream. Like something out of place, like a person or a room that didn't seem right in my house.

After I started telling people I could do this, I lost this ability :) Been trying to get it back ever since. You can really have some fun if you control your entire dream. And it IS possible...

have you ever had a real bad dream where you knew you were dreaming and were trying to wake up but couldn't? i've had this several times and it's freaky... :(

i am fully aware that i am dreaming, but my dream is going on and i can only partially control what happens in it and i cannot get myself to wake up. there was this one time where in the dream i was walking along this looooong corridor and i could actively control my upper body but not my legs at all. so i could look around and pinch myself but i couldn't get myself to stop walking. it was hella weird! :)

That has actually happened to me several times. But I've never had it work as a conscious experiment.

Dreams have to be some of the more fascinating mysteries of life. It's something that only exist in your mind, and yet you percieve it as reality. For the duration of the dream, that IS your real world. Then you have the question: what if you're unable to wake up from your dream? Then that dream would become your permanent reality, but with you actually being able to control everything if you just understood that you could. When you deep down think that's something not possible, then that becomes your reality. We are confined to the prison of our minds. Then you have the parallels to the Matrix. Neo is the chosen one. What if the Matrix was just Neo's permanent dream, and he just unlocked the key to his mind? "There is no spoon"; he had to understand that the world is more than what you can see, hear and touch.

... ran out of things to write... will type more later
