If Qui-Gon had known about Anakin, wouldn't he have forseen his own death? After all, the future is constantly in motion, and Qui-Gon was a master of the living force, not the cosmic force. Which meant he wasn't that good at predicting the future, and also explains why he picked up Jar Jar Binks.
