even if we found aliens we couldn't send them a message.Theres an international law that doesn't alow countries to send signals to contact other life.Cus they realised if an alien did know we existed theyd go "aww class a habitabal plant lets envade":D

True, but the way i see it its a case of odds, 1 we try to find a cure for cancer ourselves, or with any luck we can find a race of aliens that already have a cure.

Truth of the matter though is if people like us decided that we are wasting our time using SETI and switched to the Cancer reserch program SETI would die, so that both can exist is good.

Ill be honest as well, ive heard that the program is more of a promo tool for the reserch, alough i havent heard it it has something to do with DNA sequencing, is a Linux cluster was used im shure it wouldnot take aslong as 70 years. ill ask my m8(a bio chemist in the field of reserch)

there is a better use u can get a program that in your idle time trys to find more about cancer which altimately lead to the cure (they decided to do this cus even if they used a supercomputer it would take 70 years

The SETI@home project is basically a little program, it runs like a screensaver, when the computer is idle. It downloads and processes radio telescope data, processes it, then uploads it back to the seti research site. I would use it, but my energy bills would skyrocket and i can't afford it. :)

"SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes radio telescope data."
