Nope. I'm an athiest living smack dab in the midst of the bible belt. I'm one of maybe two or three athiests in the state of Tennessee. I am a catholic and I very much believe in god. I go to the church every week. Besides, confession is telling the priest your sins. And priest's are gods agents on this world. So by talking are sins to priests, we talk directly to god. Other thing is the things we have to do, to show we're sorry. I'm a christian. I am from a small town in southeastern USA where there is no such thing as atheist or people who aren't in some sort of organised religion. I am in a NON-denominational church, the church of christ. I'm a catholic. I like the catholic church but not everything in it. For instance, i really do not belive in Confession. I have a friend who has counted 13 times in the bible that you do not need to talk to someone to talk to god. That is what confession is isn't it? you tell a priest your sins and he has god forgive them. Well the bible says all you have to do is pray to go and he will forgive you. Another thing i don't belive in is if you miss mass one sunday you are not going to heaven until confession. I belive we should always go to mass, but if you miss i don't think God's going to hate you. What are you catholic's views on this? _______________ Dicemaster |

I actually saw a very interresting thing on Discovery some time ago. It was about Jesus and the Bible, or to be more correct, how the Bible could be bending the historic truths a little (let's hope I don't offend anyone with that), but instead a jewish book of some sort (can't remember) should be much more likely to tell the truth. Fx: The romans in the Bible (*cough*PontiusPilatus*cough*) doesn't seem half as cruelllllll (Tim the Sorcerer, anyone?) as found out by archeologists. Also, Jesus could have been a much more political person, using religion in the war against the romans (who I can't help but love ). I can't remember it very good, I didn't see it all, but it was very interresting to see how they bit after bit used historic documents, etc., to prove the things which could be wrong in the book. Sorry if I have offended or insulted any highly religious. |

Haven't we had one or 10 of these threads already? I'm Mormon as I've stated before, we've got the entire spectrum in the Council: Christian (me and I don't know who else), Jewish (DJ and Hux I think), Agnostic (DJ I guess), and i don't know what SW and c1 are. Say what you want about religion pros and cons, I don't care, just keep it clean OH, and my view is that organized religion is bad unless it is 100% dedicated to spiritual matters... the Roman Catholic Church, in my opinion, strayed from that path 1700 years ago with a few acceptions, and most protestant churchs also seem to stray. _______________ -Academy Leader/Dictator/Defeater of DJ Sith and JACen Solo in the JAK+ Tournament -I do think it (the JA) will help convert dozens, maybe hundreds, to the dork nation... --me This comment was edited by doobie on Jun 03 2003 09:58pm. |

Views of 'Organized Religion' vary extremely. Could you be more specific? are we talking something as simple as a group of believers getting together for a Bible study kind of organized? Or are we talking Holy Roman Catholic Church with thier whole infastructure kind of organized? Herm ...Yes I'm a Christian. I know you wouldn't know it the way I talk about dildos and use profanity. I'm a good person though. I'm pretty strict about my religion too. Monogamous sex and remaining pure of negative thoughts like anger and hatred jealousy and what not.
