Nullsoft - the makers of WinAmp, Gnutella, and now owned by AOL - surreptitiously released peer to peer software for small (< 100 users) networks last Friday. It uses an encrypted network, thus, no one not authorized can see what's on the network. AOL pulled it in less than 24 hours. I can't yet find it, but it must be out there. Nullsoft released it under the GNU license, so its official open source free software, despite AOL's warnings. The program is called "Waste", after the secret underground postal service used to send mail surveillance-free in Thomas Pynchon's short novel "The Crying of Lot 49". The files are "waste-source.zip" and "waste-source.tar.gz" If anyone has any leads or help of any kind it would be much obliged. Just drop an email to me. Oh I see, my intent is my brother and I like to share files, pictures, home movies, that sort of thing and we thought this would work for us. He lives on the east coast, me in the midwest of US.
