I heard somewhere (either in the JA forums or the JA chat) than someone invented ep7-9. What are they about?

The novelization of Episode 4 was ghostwritten (writing but giving credit to someone else) by Alan Dean Foster. I haven't been able to find info about the novelization of Episodes 5 or 6 though, does anyone else have some info on them?

Sidenote: Has anyone read the "original screenplay" that was floating around? No real way to tell if it is an authentic thing, but its worth a read.

Ahmeni the original novelization of Star Wars was written by George Lucas. There might have been someone elses name on it I can't remember. I definitely agree with you though. Even some of the dialogue in the original is kind of rough and corny at times.

I don't think Lucas has ever actually written any books. He's a director/screenwriter and, in my little opinion, isn't a very good screenwriter (Some of the dialogue in the Star Wars movies is really bad if you take a good look at it.. Oi)..

As for Episodes 7-9, I'm just hoping they skip all that and start making some Expanded Universe stuff. Supposedly a lot of EU is considered official-ish canon as most of the Star Wars writers respect the events told in other books.

the clone troopers are clones, the stormtroopers are not. If you think about it its another 22 years after EPII that we see the first storm trooper (they obviously exist before but we have no film evidence). Also why did luke talk about joining the academy (not this one, the imperial academy)and why are there loads of imperial training facilities mentioned in books like Kevin J Andersons Jedi Academy trilogy (buzz is that the one with the sun crusher ? I havn't read it ni a while, I forget) where carida is the phat planet devoted to trainnig storm troopers, who join up, not cloned. Cloning doesn't exist in the classic triolgy as the technology is lost, although it does pop up later in some of the expanaded universe books.

i wasnt really serius about zahn's triology to be 7-9, you know... but I say they would make a better movie than what george is planning. i've completly lost my trust in him.

btw, i always thought stories about SW had to be confiremed by the man himself? it's kinda weird, he agrees with things like imperial soldiers are no clones (zahn's triology, second book) but in his movie he rejects everything, couldnt he think of that earlier?

but somehow a triology 7-9 playing maybe 30 years after ROTJ would be somehow cool. although chewie already died *waaaa* :(
his death was actually so cheap i havent agreed with it yet

There isn't one Cmad. No known actual story exists. If you find anything online claiming to be it chances are probably 99.99% certain that its not. So don't beat yourself up over it.

He would not conform to the Expanded Universe. Which is a reason I hope the movies never get ever get made. I think Zahn's trilogy could be made into a wonderfully long miniseries. http://www.theforce.net/books/reviews/novels_chrono.shtml Here's a nice listing of many of the novels and reviews for them as well.

unlikely, but if mr lucas did suddenly decide to make them, I have no doubt he would most likely conform to the expanded universe books about the jedi academy and such.

Trust me, you're wrong. The thing about Luke going to the Darkside takes place in the Darkhorse comic book series Dark Empire. Leia does turn him back by the end of that set. The story that takes place is continued in Dark Empire 2 and concluded in Empire's End. These comics take place between Zahn's Trilogy and Anderson's Jedi Academy Trilogy. No where does Threepio become a Sith which wouldn't work since droids don't touch the force.

People also have a habit of confusing The Expanded Universe stories with Episodes 7-9. They are not the same thing. And there is no real proof that what was put into the expanded universe novels and comics is in any way shape or form along the lines george lucas was planning on making his final trilogy out to be. I mean if you consider the fact that he's got about a 20 year span between the original trilogy and the prequels, then you'd have to assume there would be a 20 year span between return of the jedi and a new trilogy which won't happen. By that time you'd be having episodes 7-9 taking place during the New Jedi Order. And even if you think that Zahn's Thrawn Trilogy is the supposed episode 7-9 you will be gravely mistaken. Especially since in his original draft the Noghri were known as the SITH. Now honestly, how big of a plothole would that have been if they were originally meant to be the sith.

Yin Yang, you really shouldn't go out eating every mushroom you find on the ground too, some have them have strange side effects, like thinking threepio is a sith. :P

The thing is that original Lucas had an idea for a very large story. He realized it would need to be broken up into several separate movies. Then he couldn't get all of them made and he actually condensed them into star wars. At least the middle section. The Death Star was supposed to be destroyed above a planet of wookiees in the third movie. So while he may have originally planned to have a saga of 9 movies and had ideas for all of them that doesn't mean they will ever be made. And frankly if Lucas doesn't want to make them because he'd be too old to direct them, then I say Thank God. I think that he's butchered the prequels from what they could have been so far so I won't complain if 7-9 are never heard of.
