I have a dew questions and i would also like to here your thoughts about ... WINDOWS XP(and previous versions). Thoughmany people say its the devil, they still use it. and throught the two weeks ive had it ive noticed that it can be customised. besides changing the background and screen saver, and the three color choices for the task bar what else can you do, what do you guys want it to do, and why do you hate/like it? _______________ "this is Icco. hehe, same here with my XP xopy bubu: got it from my dads work, they cracked it themselfs there  . Anyway, XP rules, coz it doesnt crash at all, like the previous versions used to do.

I got a free burned (thank you college) version of XP proffesional on my computer and I love it. I havent had any problems with it. I'm sure there is better stuff out there but hey, this was free. Hmm. XP home Edition at work and Pro at home? That seems a little backwards I didn't like home edition either. It kept asking me if I was sure about stuff I was telling it to do. I wanted to say "Yes Hal, I'm sure. I wouldn't have asked you to do it if I wasn't." Now I use XP pro which at least trys to be like mac OS X. I guess I'm just used to the Mac OS putting its trust completly in the user. Yeah there is always someone that can crass any OS. Windows XP Home Edition is horrid. We have problems with it all the time @ my work.
Windows XP Professional seems aiight though. I use it at home. But dont forget that FreeBSD > * ^_^ |

True there are a few documented kernel panics and such in Jaguar. Some of them are actually pretty silly. But still it's BSD with a fancy fine interface and support for stuff like Photoshop, Office, and of course JK2. _______________ My car is made of Nerf. |

ok here it goes windows is probably neccessery because its compatible with most things but i hate microsoft ok more i hate bill gates.
1.He is such a swot you know there was this one class he never went to at school-revised a week before the exam and not only passed he got a bloomin A. 2.MIcrosoft is soooooooooo anticompative i read a cpu mag and hereing all the things microsoft does makes me angry.They intertgrate half a dozen products to windows from the start you don't want. And they basically try to sell you stuff by shoving it in your face they install software for msn internet from the start for example. as for Jaguar DJ, i know how to make it crash, there are many ways! however, i don't really know how to make XP crash (apart from ripping apart pieces of hardware ). i used to know a way but since SP1, it's gone! i still say XP is much stabler than mac os 10. jaguar looks better, i'll give ya that! _______________ make install -not war |

ME has a rep for being unstable, and I can testify to that. I have windows me, and it crashes my system almost daily. Microsoft needs to stop trying to take over every single piece of software out there, and start using that to make it's existing stuff more reliable, and more efficient. _______________ Death is only the beginning. |

well, ive been brainwashed by a friend of mine, who is anti everything (well, he seems to be that way, hes like conspiracy brother from undercoverbrother). Amazingly, people say windows ME is horrible. WINDOWS ME WORKED BETTER FOR MY POURPOSES THAN 2000! AND SOMETIMESE EASIER THAN XP!!!!!!

I like windows XP a lot even though I love Mac much, much better (no flame responses please) I don't think Bill is trying to monopolize the market. The people are making it a monopoly. We have total freedom and several OS' to choose from. I think it is peoples fear of the unknown that keeps them attached to windows. As far as customizing I haven't done much of that since I got my first windows PC about a month ago. I have used other windows OS in my years as a nerd, i find that WinXP SP1 if a fantastic OS, stabe secure and fun to play with.
The problem i have is im supporting a company like Microsoft who want to controle the market of IT. they are by far the most nausiating company in the IT sector, and now ive said it my PC will proberbly lock up and delete all my MP3's, for not being faithfull to Bill. well i hated windows (though i still used it coz i didn't like any other os)... untill xp came out. then i hated it a bit more, coz it was so buggy and incompatible. but now, now that sp1 and all updates/fixes are out, i love it! it's fast, never crashes(don't argue, coz it never crashes!!!), compatible with almost anything, ehh what else? i dono i just like it. what i don't like is IE.. but that's a whole other issue.

Well... I've always used windows, but I hate it because its a huge giant bloated engorged monster, full of crap I don't need and will never use. It's also incorporating all these little utilities, while good in one way, for example, I like the built in zip function for winXP. However, it puts little companies out of business. They come up with ingenious little tools, then MS makes their own version and forces you to have it by putting it in their OS.
I'd like to start using Linux, and have XP as backup to play incompatible games, however I'd need to totally reorganize my HD and I haven't got the time to do that right now. This comment was edited by p][ke on Jan 13 2003 06:35pm. |
