Due to my huge apartment complex having every1 sharing the same fiberoptic line on cable it makes me very erratic on the server. I can't afford T1, but is Adsl better than regular DSL? What is more important for ping upload or downloading? Or are they the equally as important? I have dsl at my apartment complex. It runs thru the phone line. The speed I get from the msn page about 470k down. I am paying for 600 something so keep in mind that some of it will be eaten up in old wires, switches, and etc. I do however have a ping of 175 and above on home and class. On a good day its less than 150 but not many good days. I also just live in Minnesota not too far from KS. every line for a non-server connection is Asymmetric. only servers need more upstream. DSL or vDSL or hDSL or ADSL or whatever are just acronyms for the very same thing. I am on a huge campus network, too, but in the evening, usually my ping gets better and less jumpy. DSL or cable at about 512k should be way enough for u to gamble.
