The bond movies aren't done all by the same director. I'm not even sure how much bond's creator Ian Fleming has to do with them. Lucas didn't write everything in the expanded universe, but he does approve or have others approve most of the stuff that is now written so it stays in a fairly stable continuity. As I wrote in another thread on here, if he were to make more star wars movies he doesn't have to make them based off of the books. Frankly I would want Lucas directing the books because he is not a very good director. He's a big silent film fan so while his action sequences may be great his dialogue is pretty horrible.(I mean come on "Don't let that kiss turn into a scar" would anyone ever say that?) He wouldn't make the movies based off of the books. He would create some third warped trilogy which mirrors the other two trilogies that already mirror eachother. And another thing, George Lucas considers the star wars movies to be kids movies. Look at the potty humor in episode 1 for proof of that. Do you really want him taking novels that timothy zahn and michael stackpole and the others wrote which are definitely suited more for the 16-30 ages and turn them into a movie for 8-12 year olds?
He has said they were kids movies before. Frankly I think the original trilogy was for a wider range of ages, and Empire Strikes back especially which Lucas didn't direct. And I think that someone else could have done a better job of creating writing and directing the prequels than Lucas has done so far. I'm not saying he should be completely out of the picture but your parents aren't ordering you around and telling you how to do everything when you are in your 30's are they? They're around to guide you along at certain times, which is exactly what Lucas should do. guys, all the loose ends form ROTJ are tied up in the books. Han and Leia get married, Leia trains part-time with Luke. the rebels take Coruscant, Luke starts a jedi academy. Han and Leia have twins (Jaina and Jacen), they go to lukes academy along with Chewies nephew, Lowbacca. Luke gets married to Mara Jade, an ex-imperial, force-strong assisin/spy who was sent to kill luke.
Any equestions about the "expanded universe" as it is called, ask me here or in my profile. I will try my best to help. |

The best movie to make would be the one they made that comic about (I'm horrible with names/dates/facts.). Dark Empire or somethingorother? I just want to see Luke crushing an AT-AT and the force storm

Billy is right, there are 12 b'zillion bond movies why not Starwars, after all in Starwars there is more Scope for Different Characters, unlike bond who is still the SAME JAMES bond as was in the 60's. Come on.. even Q and M have moves on, but not JAMES BOND. why not have some one else who is codenames 007.

Did Lucas write everything that supposedly came after? If so, then OK. If not then it doesn't matter what other authors have written. At the end of RoTJ, he left a lot of loose ends (Leah's force powers, Leah & Han, etc.). Even if Lucas doesn't make the movies, does he have a son/daughter that's getting into film-making? Maybe he could pass the torch so to speak. If they can make 12 billion James Bond movies, why not Star Wars. I would think that there are a lot more possibilities (sp?) in the SW universe.

He won't be making any more SW films. Basically the original script was so big he cut it into nine parts and released then condensed the last six into what we now know as epidodes 4-6. This was because, when squashed together they told a complete story. Besides, any films made now would have to based on existing books since everything from 2 days after ROTJ up to 32 YEARS after ROTJ has been covered! |
