Indeed. As if it wasn't enough my RL "friends" mock me, even online-mates bully me. :D

I am pathetic........ but that doesn't mean I'll sue you.

EDIT: Btw, I don't have long hair, Aeth. It's you who have short hair. ;)

Thats funny, because not long ago, he was fine with it. Especially after they offered to buy him an iPod (Later an iBook) and petitioned to get him a part in Episode III. I think it just got big enough that his parents decided they could make a lawsuit out of it.

Yeah, I got made fun of in high school too. Be less of a dork, and it happens less. :D

hmmm..... just to note: wasnt in US, twas in canada - first off, the names Michaël Caron, François Labarre, Jérôme Laflamme and Jean-Michel Rheault kinda give it away and then t says he lived in quebec, which is a more obvious clue.....

hmmm wheres that movie, i wanna see what was soo funny....

I hope NO ONE tries to deny that they do stuff in the privacy of their own home or somewhere they THINK is secluded and private that they would find embarrasing if the world saw them doing it.

The "Star Wars Kid" is NOT a loser, he's NOT an idiot or stupid or what not.
He just had the misfortune of someone "catching him in the act" thereafter.
It is the result of a cruel joke.

It would be the same if somebody secretly filmed you picking your nose, or falling off of the toilet when you were drunk, or singing "La Bamba" into a brush when you are in the shower, or masturbating - then uploading it to the Internet for the world do see.

The point is, most people do things such as this, but no one cares because they do it in privacy.

Just remember, something like this COULD happen to you.

Don't get me wrong here, I have no negative opinion against anybody who's posted in this thread.
But...
I don't think it's ok to say something is bad without giving a suggestion how it could be remedied. I mean, it's easy to criticize but it's not so easy to come up with a viable alternative, if you know what I mean.
I have never been much for lawsuits myself. I think that roughly half the time they're used for petty things (like revenge) and are just taken advantage of by people. On the other hand, how are you going to compensate this kid? I mean, think of how many people have seen that video. As the article states, one website got a million downloads in just a couple of weeks. That's insane. I find it difficult to empathize with somebody regarding an embarassment of that scale. I mean, I've been embarassed infront of a couple hundred people before, but millions and millions? Nope, that's new to me.
Like I said, I don't believe in using the law selfishly; but I'm in no position to criticize it because I can't think of another way to make it right.

But money is always good. You can at least try to compensate a bit.
What else would you suggest?

Money wont solve it. He can get all the money in the world, he'd still be known as the Star Wars Kid and have the memories of the humiliation.

I want to see you, Jell-O, when all the world is laughing about you. You ever thought of the consequences for that kid? Everybody will only know him as "The StarWars Kid" and recalling that movie. His life is pretty fucked up for doing something as banal as this movie.

Now dont come and tell me he's ridicolous. We all are at some time. His bad luck was that he taped it on video and that his friends didnt think. I laughed at him first, but after reading the whole story, I feel sorry for him.

Btw, US-law *is* crap :D An old lady sued the company of her mircowave after she put her cat in it. Her cat! In the mircowave! "There was no sign not to put cats in it".
Leaves you speechless.
Soon they will give a sign with every shoe you were that says: "Theese shoes are not responsible where you walk. You walk at your own risk."

Tsheesh, americans :D ;) :P

A secretary sued a guy for saying "hidy ho" because she found it offensive.

Stupid, like the people who sue McDonalds for making them fat.

ANd now they want him to play a part in the next star wars movie? Why, so he can make a fool of himself and they can sue for more money? bs

And yes, you are correct Jacen. If you look at someone and say "Hi!" they'll try to find a way to sue you.
