Well, we need some input of you guys concerning the JA map. It's about the framerate you got... and how big a map can be. Remeber the lost temple? Some of us (like me) had something like 15 fps. note that your cpu's clock speed doesn't have to say much about graphical performance. btw: Athlon XP 2000+ Asus A7N8X deluxe (nvidia Nforce2 chipset) 1 Gig Dual channel DDR Geforce4 MX 440 (  but surprisingly good performance though)2x SATA 120 Gig HDD (striped RAID) This comment was edited by Marcel Mandarijn on Jul 31 2003 09:04am. |

Man I thought I had a crappy system. I get a steady 25 fps through the whole map even with the lost temple. If I'm in a duel and someone opens the door for some reason (and it's prolly just the stupid quake engine and it's poor design) the engine draws the whole map and fps drops to 4/5. There's also a spot outside were the engine will draw the whole map. One way around this problem would be to use distance fog (properly, and by that i mean set the start distance far enough not to notice the fog in the room. That would help with people who's cards don't handle fog well.) throughout the map. Or just redesign the entrace to the rooms to be offset so no one inside a room can see past the hallway. The engine doesn't handle zone portals (or Areaportal) properly on it's own. Are you manualy placing Areaportals at the doors? If so try debuging them if you know how. I'm sure that's the main reason why so many people had problems with the lost temple. aeth, u said that u had like 15 fps with the lost temple? i have 9-10 fps in a duel in this map yup its a crappy video card _______________ if at first you dont succeed, try and try again. if you still dont succeed, youve just wasted a whole lot of time trying something you just cant do
