I'm glad it was useful...I'm gonna keep posting my random *mumbles* here, if only to keep bumping this thread (but I'l try to say something useful) because this project is a real lifesaver already, even if hard to find :).
So here we go :)

You probably want to avoid people asking what it takes to become a JAK (the most common of the ranking questions that I've seen, and one I'm guilty of myself :( ), and while this will be somewhat mitigated by the .cfgs in the excellent new JA mod (huzzah to :alliance: Chosen :alliance: ) it may help if you put a quick note saying that you won't even consider someone unless they've been around for X months. (This may or may not be true, but you can always contact the exceptions yourself, :) ). I know that this goes against the idea of the Holocron a little, but I think it'd be a white lie that'd give you some thinking room.

I'm assuming that there will be a link for the holocron on the front JA page, so would it be worthwhile to have an annotated .jpg showing where to go on each page, in case people are REALLY stuck? I'm not sure if there is such a call for this, but maybe if only for the Servers page?

On the subject of people being really stuck, would it be possible for a link to send an email to a random member that signs up for an onsite version of the BB/Ba scheme? This way if you had an emergency contact mail address on the front page of the JA (perhaps not up to you...) then one person wouldn't be inundated with mail...

I realise (or perhaps assume) that the aim of the Holocron project is to inform and influence, not indicate potential rule changes or suggest that 'X is better than Y' *cough* red stance pwns *cough*. It seems like it is for that reason that you have pointed out that the BB/BS scheme is outside of your purview (and fair enough...you've only got so much time on your hands). So with this in mind, I don't mind volunteering to help out with the co-ordination of that scheme, unless there is someone better qualified for it. Bear in mind that my .html and other webstuff skills are limited to basic dreamweaver.

Oh yeah, and if you decide to make an intro video, I can edit it together with some tunes and FX if you like, as long as it's in a movie format (not necessarily .avi or .mpeg) and not in the demo file format.

I've got some webspace (30mb, not a lot but a little is nice:) ) that I can share, if necessary. I'd have to clear some crap out, but that'd be np.

I'd like to help a little...not too much though, hehe :).

Don't want you to think I'm getting soft.:P

I think you've asked the JATs for this, but it would be useful for the Holocron to show the various JATs specialisations.

Especially so for the Big Brother/Big Sister/Welcome Mat program. Knowing who to refer somone on to would be very useful, but only for when the BB/BS/WM didn't know the answer. This is really to questions that not every JAT would be up on if it's outside their area of focus. (Like NFF pointing out to me that if I wanted Blue/Yellow instruction that I was in the wrong place :P ).

If I wanted to know the best way to counter a YDFA in Heavy, I doubt I'd be asking Luke, for example. He could probably help, as could all of the JATs, but he ain't the expert in THAT field.

If there is anything I can help with other than random incoherent *mumbles*, then send me a message. :)

I remember seeing a site with(I think) a Flash interface that was very much like the one in JK:JA.

I posted a link a little while ago, anyone know what I'm talking about?

yep.

i would clearly state out that those moves are not recommended, but engage the reader to be creative and experimenting with combos/movew/counters.

yeah indeed lunge counters lunge...
and yeah I mentioned that ydfa counters ydfa but you need to be very quick indeed.
Another though counter move is ydfa counters rdfa, and then I mean right on the front: if someone makes a rdfa and is in the midair you ydfa so you will jump over his rdfa cut and ydfa him right after it. Cool move only if it goes wrong you're doomed ;)

yeah, cyb, I thought that , too.

u guys should (as the whole jk2 community) make a difference between countering like countering a RDFA with a sidestep+lunge, and the old-school countering, as pushing attack when the sabers clash.

I like to call this old-school countering, coz its way old-school, but cool-school ;)

well, u can counter a lunge with a lunge, and if u're sure ur opponent is low on HP, u can lunge or downhack in an incoming RDFA.

and if u're a tough guy, and u get YDFA'd, u IMMEDIATLEY YDFA, too, which will kill ur opponent, if timed right.

that double YFDA is a very useful trick.

yeah very useful comments indeed...
about the duel tactics indeed I think enough ppl could think of some more good tactics. I do have an important edit for that btw as there is a little piece of text in there with the title "do not try to counter specials".
Now the truth is actually the opposite.. if there is one thing you can counter easially then it is a special (red dfa and yellow dfa) and therefor should if possible always be used. So instead of saying not to do it I'd say explain how to do it good.

EDIT: aah now I see what you ppl mean with countering... let them hit your saber and then attack back, yeah that is not very useful to do to a Rdfa... what I meant is actually more saying like
if someone does a ydfa and you saw it very quick you can counter with a red slash or with another ydfa doing massive damage.. if you are a bit too late you can counter with a lunge which does a bit less damage
the rdfa can be countered by a lunge (try to lunge as much in his back as you can)... you can also counter it by a ydfa or red slash if you saw the dfa coming on time
and then you should add more things to it and making it more clear.. this was just to show what i meant.. or do we already have this somewhere?

I just read thru it, here's what I saw.

well, there are some grammatical errors in the general force part.
force jump: dont u need at least lvl2 to do wallwalk & kick ? this is nowhere to be read.

force absorb: only lvl3 instantly releases a grip.
force protect: there is a maximum amount of hit points that is being absorbed, its 500 at lvl3, donno about the other levels.
eg when hit by 5 rockets, no protect will help you.

drain/lightning lvl2 has greater range than lvl3, but lvl3 goes for a wider arc. the text should say this for drain as well.

saber, red stance: the air-rdfa is also known as parachute.

the general dueling advice are very good, but I miss a few tips.
a red downhack works very well against jumpy guys, too. especially when combo'd.

a nice trick is the "fake red lunge"
like stand there in red, hit SHIFT and ForWARD, then switch to blue, hit crouch and attack.
this all has to be done within the blink of an eye, and noone will see ur lunge coming. very handy if the opponent does an aerial attack.

i dont see the most basic tactics, like basic dfa evading, keep-the-opponent-in-sight, and move unpredictable... or are they at another section ?

also, it should be stated out that most of the JA ppl can be asked for advice after duels.
like "how did you do that move" etc.
this is most important, to my mind.

plus, I miss a section about aerial attacks.

well, this is just the cream of the cool :)
you all did a great job with the holocron - keep it up, and take care of those spelling errors... hehe
