I was wondering lately, if 2 guys with the exact same skill, but one has that skill in yellow style and the other one in red style, would fight eachother.. who would win? In other words is red style or yellow style the better one? What do you think and maybe even why?? _______________ ~~ Love all, trust a few, do wrong to none! ~~ |

I use both stances pretty much equally - I switch back and forth based on how the fight's going and what my opponent's like. I usually start duels with red: taking a few moments at the beginning to get a feel for how they play, taking a few experimental swipes and see how they respond (whether they dodge, parry, or just take the damage). I usually use red against less skilled players who do less dodging and more random swinging, and yellow against the better ones who are more likely to get in there for some good, technical saberplay. /me patents the word "saberplay". Icco... when i was in my prime (which wasnt that good mind you) back in the months before JK3 came out, i swear, i could go for more than half the duel, without my saber on, without getting hit. maybe hit twice. No matter what style the other person had. And i could still get some hits in with red. Of course, I tried doing that in JK:JA, but i couldnt. At all (use the style). So, the point is, in my personal experience, I find that when someone who was good in red stance was fighting me, versus someone who was good in yellow stance, the person in red stance tended to have to be slightly better; they killed me faster. Sure red has a stronger swing, but its also slower, and therefore said that its easier to be avoided. Which is false, for the record. Edit: What I mean by that is, when you see the blade comming, its usually too late to do anything to stop.. unless you were good with Huxley's old style. I'm sorry, i was never much of a red guy, so id have to say yellow would take the point, but for me it was the blue. Blue owns all! id say red style. Someone who is good in red style.. i mean really good; not resorting to rDFA's all the time... would win. Ive played against good yellow and good red style fighters (Back in the days of JK2). Maybe my bias is telling me this.. but the red style was harder. yay jk2 forum! I never really played jk2 but as far as jka goes, i don't believe you can really say with certainty that one stance, red or yellow, is better than the other. Afterall, what would be our basis for comparison? I don't think you can meaningfully separate the stance from the person using it. Doing so would only result in the usual red does more damage and has longer range but yellow is faster and can chain more swings comparisons. These advantages and disadvantages aren't the deciding factors in making what I consider better. Afterall, who are we to weight one attribute over the other; speed over power; range over rate. And note that these attributes vary from server to server because of different mods, connection, and whatnot. Most of the time, how well a player utilizes the strengths of one stance compared to another is what their makes one stance better another stance, for that particular player that is. We can't overlook that the player him/herself plays a crucial role. Take this theorectical example. I have a padawan named Bo-Bo, who is 6.9 years old and wants grow up to be like Anakin and marry Padame and have lots and lots of...ok disregard the latter half of the sentence. So Bo-Bo starts off as being quite good at yellow but not so good at red. As time went on, Bo-Bo practices and gets awesome at yellow, to the point that he can counter the heck out of any red stancer that comes his way. Bo-Bo is happy. Against yellow stancers however, Bo-Bo doesn't fare nearly as well and wins less frequently. Bo-Bo concludes that yellow is the superior stance when compared with red. One day, Bo-Bo goes to a server and sees a bunch of red stancers! Oh man! Bo-Bo is excited because red stancers are easy for him. Charging courageously into battle, Bo-Bo is completely and utterly destroyed by the red folks on the server. Bo-Bo is not pleased. After being pwnt numerous times, Bo-Bo observes the playing of the people on the server learns some new things regarding red stance. After some practice, Bo-Bo achieves red stance mastery and in his joy exclaims "Arm the connons maties!!!" over TS. Shortly thereafter, Bo-Bo was kicked from the TeamSpeak server for his outburst by n00b, the server admin. However, Bo-Bo was so happy that he gave not a darn. So Bo-Bo is having a great time in JKA, he was so good at red now he can defeat all the yellow users that used to give him trouble. He concludes that Red is actually the better of the two stances. Until one day, Bo-Bo is defeated by superduperyellowstancer#69. He just cannot win using his red moves!!! How can this be? Unable to conquer his nemesis with yellow stance either, Bo-Bo is dejected and meditates facing the corner of the dueling room. Suddenly, Bo-Bo reads on his screen that superduperyellowstancer#69 has been sabered by superduperredstancer#69! OMG. Bo-Bo breaks out of his depressive state to watch the ensuing duels between the two master stancers. For the next 20 mins Bo-Bo watched intently as mr. red stance routes mr. yellow stance. Bo-Bo's faith is teh red is renewed. All of a sudden two assailants, one wielding a staff on one wielding duals, came into the matrix and lamed the red and yellow stancers!!! A ffa ensued as the staff and dualist lamers completely dominated mr. red and mr. yellow!!! They said "Kancho'd" triumphantly as they disconnect from the server. Bo-Bo then goes to his menu to switch his light saber type. |
