Anyway, everything is so f'ed up right now its unbelievable. Im 15 but I'm gonna try and get emancipated from my parents when I'm 16. That is the age in Maryland which is where I want to live. Seems straight foward right? Well heres the problem, we live in France now. Can I still do this? I am an American citizen and so is my dad, my moms a british citizen. Im not really expecting many people to know about this, I'm hoping that at least someone might know or know of a legal forum or something. Thanks. |

hm, Spork, if u can afford that, or got a sponsor, sure, why not go for it, but I can tell you, college life breeds more than just the run for the diploma I'd just wait the 2 years, they pass by faster then u think. _______________ One of the Belouve boys, founder of the mighty FiZZsters Midbie council #20 - Fizz - #1933 - Jan '03 - Aug '04 "Renfield, you idiot!" |

My parents dont abuse me so I cant use that as a means of escape. The thing is I'm a good student and I want to go to college, the French education system isnt very good though and my future is not in France. If I was to go back I could continue high school and graduate when I'm 18 with a diploma, I plan to take a year off before college in which I could save money since I could work full time. Currentley my parents would completely fund my college education but if it means going to school until I'm 20 I'd rather be on my own. Theres no point being in high school until your 20 when its possible to get a degree by the time your 21 (i'd be 22 with year off). |

Right, I too had the problem that I wished to escape parents asap. But here's the thing, it's going to fuck up things for you wether it's legal or not. If possible, go to a college where you can board. I know this isn't financially possible for some but if your already 15 then you haven't much longer to go. If it's the sort oft hing that can't wait because they abuse you or something, you should be seeking legal action against them. If it's just that they are controlling and annoying and such, just be patient. I probebly have to deal with just as much if not more then you in that controlling annoying parents dept. So, if you can, tough it out. It builds character!(I hope...) More on the abusive parents dept: You can help help fromt he police if you are getting abused. In the US there is a government agency called DCYF which will get involved, evaluate the situations, consider family counsiling and things like that and if it's bad enough, sperate you and place you n a foster home. More on college: While expensive, it gives escape as well as education. Education gives you the footing to establish yourself as an individual in the world and opens employment opertunities for the furute. _______________ I must not fear . Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear . I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Gom gom gom gom gom! |

Basically this whole move has fux0red me forever. The bumb ass french baq requires you know two foreing languages, so right now im trying to learn French, I'm also gonna have to learn German or Spanish. Basically in French most kids are in school until they're 19, and Ive been told that it will be impossible to graduate when I'm that age which sucks anyway so I wont be out of school until I'm 20!!!!! I'm thinking hell no, besides that this place is terrible, theres like 7 english kids in my grade and I dont like any of them. The education system here is total bs, I really dont know what everyone says with Europe having a better school system. I think I was just in a particularly good county in Maryland. Anyway, according to the research I've done you dont have to have an actual reason, you just need to meet certain requirments, these include going to school, and being able to support yourself. My friend said I could live at his place and I plan on getting an a+ certification so I can get a job after school that pays more than 5 bucks an hour, that way I should be able to buy clothes and video games and stuff. Also I wanna be back with my girlfriend whom I'm madly in love with, even if we broke up like tomorrow I'd still do it though. |

just out of sheer morbid curosity (which has defenitly gotten me into trouble in the past so dont answer if you dont want to) what grounds are you going to use to justify emancipation? it usually takes some extreme circumstances and a lot of time things can be sorted out alot more safely, sanely, and cheaply. |

Wouldn't you need to be a resident of that state in order to do this not just want to live there? _______________ When you are going through Hell, keep going. -Sir Winston Churchill.
