Ok Here's a post with some usefull links. I will keep updating this as needed. If you don't know about this site and you are a Windows User you need to know about this. This site will patch your os with any of the bugs in any Windows OS. http://www.windowsupdate.com A good piece of software to have. This will scan your computer for any kind of spyware that any freeware or shareware program that you download and install. http://www.lavasoftusa.com or you can try spybot http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html *NOTE* Don't have both installed or they will say each other is spyware. I like spybot better. A good free anti-virus program.. If you don't have a anti-virus I recommend you do. http://www.grisoft.com/us/us_index.php This site is good for information on ISP's(Internet Service Providers). It alos has a great little toolset for testing your internet connection and the forums are helpful for tweaking your pc to get the most out of your connection. http://www.broadbandreports.com Do you have windows XP or 2000 and a great video card? Seem to be stuck at about 60FPS, even though you say like com_maxfps 120? Simple fix http://www.ryanmh.com/files/reforce.zip is a fix for a Windows Bug that locks your frame rate at 60 fps when you can get higher. All you do is unzip that run it, click auto populate, hit Apply and reboot and boom FPS allover the place _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. Hey all sorry I havent been around for a few days, ive been extreamly busy with my school gaming project and were almost done. I should be back some time next week and will try to answer your questions then. I would now but I gota get back to work on my game. Orion not been here lately, but I'll ask something. My stupid father. He loves his GATOR program. I want it off his computer so I can stop fixing the errors every time I come home. Plus, It's not your fun program, either. So, if I can find a replacement, he'll use it, only.... He has all those passwords and stuff on Gator that he doesn't remember. So if I can transfer them to a better program, he'll let me do it. So: Better program than Gator? And...how to transfer his passwords? _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. Internet explorer won't work, which I couldn't careless about. Its the fact that anything that loads like it wont work. Eg. Msn. Gamespy front page. Anything that gets booted up with internet explorer, or that type, doesn't work. Ive no idea why. Been like it for awhile so I use Opera. But I want to use Msn 6, and gamespy. Any idea on what the problem could be? Changed setting? |

NOOOOOOOOO!!! My copy of Jedi Academy isn't working!!! Whenever I try to load a game, start a new game, devmap mp/something anything that involves fun, it crashes. This thingie has caused an illegal operation! Not fare! Could you reply on my profile please? Thanks |

Yeah my bit came with the config tool in the system tray and that's what I've got it set to. And as I said before, I can go to the "test speaker" section and click on the speaker I wanna test and all the speakers CAN make noise... they just don't. the bastards. _______________ "It's because I love you. I'll toss in. You want to get the latest Avance Sound Manager. I have the same stuff on my motherboard too, but went with a Audigy later on. Search for the latest one, and you should be ready for the next step. So...once you have THAT installed, go to the little icons on the bottom right side, with the clock and stuff. Find a blue icon or so that says "sound effect". Click that, and you open a window that says AC97 Audio Configuration (or something similar). Go to Speaker Configuration, and select the 6 channel mode (5.1). Apply. then, go to speaker test. You should get them all. Else, Mr. Smartypants can help you out. He'll know better than I. Ok Mr. Smarty-pants. I have an issue that, if you're able to solve it, I will call you Mr. Smartypants without a trace of sarcasm. Here goes: I have an albatron KX400+ pro motherboard in my new computer. It has an onboard audio capabilities for surround sound. I bought the 5/1 surround whatever speakers. the first issue is this: the system only utilizes the 2 front-side speakers and the subwoofer. That's not too terrible, cause it's better than nothing. Anyway I know that it CAN use the center and rear speakers, cause the mobo disc had a software utility for testing/configing the surround sound n the machine as well as drivers (Avance AC97 audio, if it helps). Is there a way to get the rest of my system to use all 5 speakers and the sub? Secondly: Sometimes the audio device doesn't work. Just flat out refuses to start. It says in the device manager properties that the device refused to start (code 10) I dunno what that means, but I know it means trouble. I can clear it up by just deselecting+restart/reselecting+restart the "Do not map through this device" option (damned if I know why  ) BUT I know that it is not a problem limited to Windows XP. I can boot into Linux and it has the same issues; it just sometimes won't start.So that's that. If you can help: Wonderful! I love you! If not: BAH!! Damned vagrants always clogging up the streets! I think I figured out the problem...but I don't know how to solve it. Jedi Academy says I have the IP address that my router has given me: 10.0.0.4 But the ip-address of our network to the world is a different one. Can I set JA so that he'll see that I'm part of that IP address instead of 10.0.0.4 _______________ Personal sleepness-nights-supporter of Virtue. Ehm...I tried to run a server for JK:Ja..end the same thing went wrong as always with JK:JO. They are all LEGAL versions of the game...so no warez shit. When I create a server I have the IP of localhost. I am behind an ADSL router for 4 other computers here at home. Maybe JK:JA automaticly gets that IP address and ppl can't join me because of that. orion i see u bad ass popular man!!! anyway, i just installed an OLD game (df 1) to my PC which runs on WinXP (LOL @ ME for doin that)... i do the setup okay, but when it comes to Sound i got a little prob... My soundcard is by default ON the motherboard and not some seperate new sound card (what i mean that the sound card "holes" are where the mouse + keybrd holes are)... Anyway, i dunno what port to specify my sound card is, so the result is NO SOUND... Plus i can't find out what kinda sound card i got... i go to control panel | system | device manager but it won't fckin gimme sound card type... help??? BTW: this prob is not so urgent, but i would be glad if you could help... oh yeah! just remembered the word... my PC has native multimedia (is that the right expression?)... omg i got as good memory as... that big fat gray animal wit 2 horns... Umm well running windows xp with 224 MB of ram is ok, but I would try to get some more ram put it, try to get 256, or 512MB of Ram, and try to set your video settings to default. In game set it so the Graphics Level is at Fastest or whatever, and just run the game and see what FPS you get. _______________ When a Man lies he murder's some part of the world. Hello Orion, I have come to you because I have exhausted all other options I can think of. My problem lies within JK:JA. I'm not even going to start going into the SP problems but MP works fine except for I have a really bad FPS as low as 9 but 14 on average. First off system specs. AMD 2200 1.8GHZ CPU 244 MEG RAM ATI Raeon 7000 PCI 64 MEG 19" monitor 85 HZ refresh rate(highest supported) Windows XP home version with all available updates Now for what I've done so far. Before changing anything I downloaded a manaul in PDF format for my card from ATI. Desktop>properties>settings>advanced>Direct3D set main slider all the way left to performance anisotropic and antiailiasing set 2 app preference(can't turn off) vert sync always off compatibility settings:support W buffer disabled, support 32bit Z Buffer enabled,Alpha dithering error diffusion,support DXT enabled,alternate pixel enabled OpenGL> same as Direct3D except antiailiasing can be turned off and is Compatibility:Force Z buffer diabled,triple buffering enabled,alpha dithering error diffusion In game settings>video>640x480 mode,textures and colors set to 16 bit everything else off or set to low,bilinear filtering more video> dynamic lights off, wall marks on, anisotropic all the way left sound>high(low made no differnece), EAX off Game options> footsteps sound only I had installed Directx 9.0b. Then I reinstalled 9.0a from the game disk. I ran diagnostics with no problems. I tested Direct3D and DirectDraw with no problems. I started with Radeon catalyst(card drivers) 3.7 (the most recent)then went sequentially to 3.4 with no changes. Then went back to 3.6 for that is what i have found that everyone with ATI cards finds to work the best. In the BIOS I enabled the PCI slot and haven't found any IRQ conflicts. I then enabled onboard LAN ROM boot(I am not on a network but thought that might help) As you can see I have done quite a bit, especially for someone who had no knowledge of what any of this did up untill this game came out. I have no problems what so ever running anything else and I don't have any other programs running except JK:JA. I am also on a DSL line with an average ping around 50. I'm lost and frustrated. Hahah.. My second time here in 10 minutes. OK... I have Windows XP, I went into System ,Display, and Turned on "Maximize Windows for Performance" instead of "Appearance". It changed the menus and overall look of Windows, but since all the menus are different I can't change it back... Orion, this isn't really a 'Computer Help' question, but... Is there any way to make my dial-up run faster, to lower my ping? There's absolutley NOTHING in the way of High Speed where I live(Yes, I live in the US) besides Satellite. I'm tired of dying because of ping, or not being able to PvP in SWG... Not much difference from AMD, Intel as in installation, useage etc. Just AMD, yeah they do run better in some applications than Intel and vice versa. The major thing to know about the AMD chips, is they are heat prone, they can run extreamly hot, and that can cause an issue especially if you lock the PC in a enclosed area, with little ventilation.
