Academy Map Problem: If you help me out I'll make it worth your while

Okay, this might sound stupid, but everytime I try 2 download the JA map into my base folder, I get this message:
Cannot create or replace jedi_academy: Acess is denied.
Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and the file is not currently in use.
Actually, this happens with all my mods and I wonder if anyone else has the same problem.
Is the Academy Map necessary for classes?
I need help here!:(

I'll try your suggestions, plus I'll get ICQ soon
(I hope) in the meantime, keep those suggestions coming, and I'll leave a copy of this at your profile page in case you don't check back. I'll keep you updated.

If you have ICQ installed contact me under 89294569 and i'll guide you through it. It seems as if you're harddisc is either full, or has a bad cluster, or u got a corrupted file. Anyway let's do this slow. In the top left corner should be a symbol called My Computer or something similar. Doubleclick it then you should see you're hard discs listed there. Click the one where JK2 is installed. Click right then properties, and it should show you how much space is left on your disc. If it's full you need to deinstall - delete some unused stuff. If not report back, we'll get that fixed in no time.

P.S.:
Another easy workaround would be, download the map into a other folder. It is a .zip file which means it is compressed and you need to unzip it to use it. (No this is nothing naughty) U can get eg. Winzip for free at www.winzip.com . After you finished the download, which as far as i can tell by your post is your main problem now, unzip it into your base folder. Keep us up to date and we'll get you through this - be not ashamed we all started as noob's... well maybe not me ;p

Your base folder should just expand as needed... it shouldn't have a limit on size. This is really quite strange..

could you read it a little slower? ;)

Well anyways, here is the best way to fix it:

Start your computer *vrooom*

Press F8 like a maniac *beep beep beep*

When you see the menu, select something where it says "command prompt blablabla"

When silly Windows finally booted, type the following line in the command prompt:

DEL C:\your_jedioutcast_basefolder\the_file_you_want_to_remove.pk3

There you go! :)

Well apparently windows is using the file, or at least thinks so.
No worries though, get into the command prompt and type del [path to file]...
If it still might give you problems, press F8 while booting, and boot in safe mode with command prompt, and do it there.

Hope that helps :)

yes, the JAmap _is_ necessary for classes.
uhm, did u try and d/l it manually ?
maybe there's a clinth with user-rights in your OS, eg you are not the user that has the proper rights to overwrite those files if u are using win2K/XP Pro....

but try it manually, that should give u a more decent error, at least ;)

*what system do u use and what user permissions do u have?

**did u try a scandisk ? maybe that cluster is broken where that file should be.

hmmm... interesting... either you really don't have enough space, or maybe the file is write-protected (doubtful). check to see how much free space you have. if that is not the problem, try restaring your comp, that would fix the file in use possibility..

and yes without the map you can't really play on the servers.. :P
