Hmm its over 21 pages long in Word so I will post a chapter every day to keep the tension in it  (BTW, Copyright © 2003 Ashley Rei Jackson, just so you all know  )------------------------------------------------- Chapter 1, Introduction It was dark, evening had fallen when Rei and her master were speeding back to their hideout on the planet of Sigma 02. They felt something, something that was unusual from their normal feelings. But if it was a disturbance, they could not tell. What do you think that wrong? Rei asked her master. I don’t know he replied, there is only one way to find out. And while he said that he concentrated on the force and greatly increased his speed. It took Rei some more time to focus and do the same cause her training was far from complete. But after some time she caught up with her master. When they arrived at a town they saw something horrible. A massacre. Death, pain, agony, cries. It was the first time Rei ever experienced something like this. For a second she felt like her hart stopped beating but she let go of her emotions and was able to regain her senses. Her master was already taking care of the wounded, though there weren’t many. Rei made her way to a little girl who had suffered from severe burns. She placed her hand on the little girl’s shoulders and focussed. A little faint glowing green light came out of her hands and soon the wounds started to disappear. At that time they heard someone shouting: Ah so my little trap has worked! I knew that killing a few miserable people would definitely get the attention of the Jedi! Ha-ha you are all so weak that you care for others. Both Rei and her master quickly turned around. There was a black cloaked and hooded stranger. But his power felt immensely strong. Rei's master looked at her and knew she was afraid. Rei never fought a force user before in her life. Knowing so he spoke. Stranger identify yourself! The dark stranger looked at him and removed his hood. Rei felt her hart knocking in her throat. Under that hood was a misshaped face. Filled with scars. Not the prettiest at home Rei's master replied. Ha, you mock me with your ridiculous insults Jedi, the stranger replied, my name is Bardiel! Not that it matters because you will not be able to tell the tale. While he said that, he used telekinesis to pull his saber from his belt to his hand. The short boost of energy was heard and a bright red saber ignited. He threw off his cloak and prepared for combat. Rei looked at her master and saw him do the same. Though he did it calmly. He took his saber from his belt and again, the comforting sound of the saber activating. A green glow surrounded us and the soft and gentile buzzing of the saber was heard. ,,Rei'' do not fear him, fear will get you nowhere, fear leads to the dark side he said. Rei nodded her head and was quickly on her feet. She felt the cold iron in her hand as she took her saber. She pressed the activation button and for the third time there was the comforting sound of the saber igniting. A very bright and pretty blue light came of the saber. And the buzzing was now very clear to hear. Rei closed her eyes and focussed, more then she ever done it before. This is just like killing tuskans except this guy has force power she said to herself. As she thought that she saw Bardiel leaping of the rock he was standing on and landing about 20 feet in front of them. The face off began. They were standing there for about 5 seconds until Bardiel opened the attack. A huge force was felt and Rei was smashed backwards. Her master still stood there, he was able to block the force blast. Ha-ha Bardiel shouted, that little girl of yours is no more then a simple padawan. You should know better then to let her face dark Jedi! You would be surprised how good she is Rei's master replied. Meanwhile Rei was standing again. A small stroke of blood came running from her head. She felt it and noticed she had a small cut on her forehead. She ignored the pain though and was quickly back with her master. The fight commenced. Bardiel charged straight at us and the sound of the saber was heard even more. It was no longer comforting it was terrifying. Eclipse (Rei's master) blocked the charge, a massive amount of flashes came off. And the sound of the two sabers connecting was very loud. Rei was paralyzed for a second but decided to go on the offensive too. She leaped over both of the fighting Jedi and landed behind Bardiel. He quickly noticed it and also attacked Rei. She blocked he attack and immediately attack on her account with a quick slash to his legs. Bardiel noticed and turned his saber vertically so that it would be blocked. But, Eclipse attacked him as well he slashed straight at his head but this had no effect, Bardiel was so quick that he also managed to block that attack as well. He leaped straight on Rei and kicked her against her chest. Rei heard something break and was soon overcome by a huge pain as she fell about 10 feet backwards. She was unable to get up again. Eclipse and Bardiel kept on attacking each other. The flashes and the sounds were amazing. Rei tried to get up and after some time she managed to on her knees. The pain was too much, there was no way she could fight like that. She closed her eyes and focussed. A green glow surrounded her and she felt the pain go away slightly. Yet she knew she wasn’t strong enough to cure breaks. She tried to focus even harder and the pain slipped away far enough for her to be able to get up again. Meanwhile Eclipse and Bardiel were still fighting. A right swing, a left swing. Downward lunge, an aerial attack. It had no effect on each other. Rei was on her feet again, though not very strong. She looked from her eyes completely different. It was shimmering in the colour red. She knew that going into direct combat wasn't a good idea. Suddenly she saw Bardiel attacking with a left swing and somehow breaking Eclipseses defence. Bardiel quickly made use of this opening and managed to scratch his leg and his right arm (similar to Obi wan vs Dooku in ep2). Eclipse fell down and his saber deactivated. Bardiel laughed, ha-ha you pathetic Jedi how can you train someone if you aren’t even strong enough yourself? You should be banned from the Jedi order. But then again, they don’t have to ban you are going to die soon. How does it feel to know that you are dying hahaha. Rei noticed something. The dark Jedi was so caught up in his arrogance and sarcasm that he was no longer paying attention. Rei tried to move. Every single step hurted. The pain started moving from her legs to her chest and back. But she managed to get closer to the Dark Jedi. When she was less then 5 feet away, Bardiel suddenly said. And now it is time for you to die. He activated his saber again and swinged it upwards. Rei knew she had to do something but her body was working against her. Suddenly she had an idea. She focussed on the force and felt her legs regain strength again; she prepared herself and leaped straight at the dark Jedi. During her jump he activated his saber. The blue light ignited and the saber buzzing was heard again. Bardiel turned his face and saw a blue flash coming straight at him. A flash, not even a scream. Rei landed but immediately fell down again, the pain became too much for her to handle.... Rei opened her eyes and Eclipse was leaning over her. Hello little one Eclipse said. I owe you one now. What happened, Rei asked him. You killed a dark Jedi, Rei, Eclipse replied. A tear came over Rei's cheek and she looked at her hands. From her hands she looked at her lightsaber which was on the table next to her bed. Eclipse smiled at her but Rei did not feel joy at all. She closed her eyes and wandered off in a deep sleep.... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Chapter 2, An unexpected travel (this is a chapter with not much action, just a way to write so that I can make my way to the plot and this is also a nice introduction to the main character) A flash, not even scream, Dark images of a laughing Jedi, people being slaughtered in front of their loved ones, Blood, lots of blood…… With a loud scream Rei awoke. Her face was covered in sweat and she felt tears coming up from her eyes. After a few seconds Eclipse came running in. He sat down next to her and placed his arm around her. I….I can’t do this Eclipse, Rei said. I never said that the path of a Jedi is an easy one Rei, Eclipse replied calmly. But you are right you were not ready to face a Jedi yet. Rei shivered, I am cold she said. Eclipse went of to get her another blanket. Rei picked up her saber and just placed it in her hands. For several seconds she looked at it. She wondered, how does a dark Jedi become so evil?. Eclipse returned with a blanket. Master, why do Jedi turn to the dark side? Rei asked him. Well there are several reasons for that, but it’s mostly the hunger for power. Power?? Rei whispered. Yes, there is a lot you can do with the force especially when you are as gifted as you are. I’ll never turn to the dark side Rei said. Well that’s good Eclipse said with a smile. Now go back to bed, it’s late and tomorrow we will continue your training. Eclipse left the room and the silence fell again. Rei touched her lightsaber once more and the cold and gentile steel felt different in her hands then it had used to. She touched the bandage that was wrapped around her chest. It still hurted but not as much as it did that night before this one. Rei closed her eyes and fell a sleep. Though it was a very uncomfortable sleep. Dawn woke up and the sound of the playing Squisels (Sort of squirrel looking things with wings) was heard. Rei opened her eyes and looked at the roof. It wasn’t special, just a bit of stone. She and her master had lived here ever since she became his padawan. He took her in when she was just a little girl at the age of 6. Rei looks at him not as his master but more as her father because her parents died in a space accident. She stood up and walked to the door. One of her arms was still firmly pressing against her chest to avoid pain from setting in. She opened the door and saw Eclipse meditating. But as soon as he heard her, he woke from his meditation. Good morning Rei he said calmly. Good morning she replied. Is that chest of you still hurting? Eclipse wondered. Yes she said. Well we have to do something about that then. Come here. Rei walked over to her master and he placed his hand on her chest. A bright blue light came out and Rei felt the pain slip away. Thank you master, she said. Don’t mention it Rei. But this is only temporary, the bones will have to heal themselves as well, he said. Could you do me a favour and go to Amnisvale and pick up some stuff for the spaceship? We have to go to the Jedi Academy soon and I haven’t fixed the hyperdrive yet. I have to show the council how much you have improved. Of course master, what do you need? I need a hyperspace conductor Eclipse said. Rei nodded and walked back into her room. She looked in the mirror and touched her chest. The pain was gone. She walked over to her dresser and slipped in her normal clothing. No reason to show you are a Jedi (or padawan). It will only cause people to talk and point at you. Rei brushed her brown hair (short hair till up her shoulders) and got into her shoes. She looked at her lightsaber. Somehow she didn’t like it as much as she used to. But Eclipse always said, Never and I repeat Never leave without your lightsaber. A lightsaber is your life, without it a Jedi is less powerful. So Rei walked over to her small table and picked up her saber. She placed it on her belt but closed her coat around it so that no one would see it. Rei walked to the door and was about to open it when Eclipse said: Rei, be careful ok? Yes master Rei said. And she walked outside. There was the speeder. They had an old one but it was working perfectly and Rei (though only being 17 years old) was able to pilot it pretty good though she had some trouble reaching the pedals (she was only 1 meter and 79 centimetres tall). She turned the key and a soft buzzing of the engine was heard. The speeder immediately started hovering above the ground. She stepped on the pedal and the speeder flew off. It is only a short travel to Amnisvale. Rei looked around and saw several homes and some playing children. They all looked at her with big eyes because they don’t see speeders that often (most travel here goes by foot or the old fashioned horse). After about ten minutes she arrived at Amnisvale. It is a big city with a market and a lot of shops. Rei parked the speeder and walked into the mob. She searched for the space parts shop. She felt uncomfortable though because there were so many people. She doesn’t like it when it’s crowded. After some time searching she had found the space shop. She has been there for several times but somehow always forgets where it is. As she stepped in the old Nagai (sort of a space elf) smiled at her. Miss Endoril (Rei’s last name), what can I do for u. H…Hello sir, I am looking for a hyperspace conductor. Oow, we have lots of those in stock. It’s almost as if those things always break with everyone he smiled. Rei did not smile back (she almost never smiles only at her master). Anyway, it will cost you 500 credits my dear, the old Nagai replied. Rei nodded and placed 5 pieces (each worth 100 credits) on the desk and walked out of the shop with her conductor. Back at her speeder she started thinking about Bardiel again: I just don’t get it why does he attack innocent people? You can’t be so full of hate that you start attacking people who have done nothing to you. He also mentioned a trap….was he after us all the time? She reached home again and Eclipse already awaited her at the spaceship. Hurry child, something came up, We have to report to the Jedi council right away. I already packed everything and all your stuff is on the ship. I will tell you more when we are underway but now we have to hurry. Eclipse quickly installed the hyperspace conductor and we took off into space…… ------------------------------------------------- Chapter 3 Coruscant (Quick Things-To-Know for this chapter: Luke rebuilded the Jediacademy on Coruscant how it was in the early ages of the Jedi (episodes 1 and 2)) Rei looked outside, still thinking about Bardiel. She looked into the stars. Lots of them were here. The planet sigma was located it the outer ring and it was almost 12 parsecs to Coruscant. It was going to be a long journey. Rei touched her lightsaber. The cold steel felt warm in her hands. She looked at her hands again and immediately thought of that night where she killed the dark Jedi. ,,Still thinking of the dark Jedi are we?” Eclipse said. Rei nodded at him with a somewhat desperate look on her face. ,,It will pass Rei, it happened to me too when I had killed my first force using enemy.” Suddenly the sound of the hyperdrive was heard. The ship made a small shock and soon Rei and Eclipse were pressed in their seats due to immense acceleration that the ship made. They had a pretty nice ship. It looked a bit like the legendary Millennium Falcon. That ship was lost though, no-one knew where it was. Rei decided to do some saber practice. She placed a closed of helmet on her head so that it would cover her eyes and activated a flying drone that would fire small laser burst directly at her. She activated her lightsaber and started her training. The buzzing of the lightsaber was calm. Rei was able to deflect every shot coming at her. ,, You know Rei, that exercise really wont do you any good, you are already very good with your lightsaber.” ,, What you need to work on are your force powers” Eclipse said calm. Rei looked at him with big eyes. ,,I….I am already good with my saber?” she asked him. ,,Yes, you are very good with it” Eclipse replied. ,, I…I, thank you” and Rei blushed a bit. She deactivated her saber and decided to take some rest in the living quarters of the ship. A flash, not even a scream….. Rei woke up with a shock. The ship was still at hyperspace and Rei immediately looked through the room to see if everything was safe. Of course it was safe, what was she talking about. There is no-one in this ship besides her and her master. She walked to her desk and touched a picture of her parents and looked into stars. ,, Please help me in doing the right thing” Rei whispered to the picture. ,, If I am so gifted please help me not to turn to the dark side” Please mother, father help me. At that moment the ship dropped out of hyperspace and Rei made her way to the bridge. ,,There it is, Coruscant” Eclipse said. ,, The last time you were here was 8 years ago”. Rei nodded, it hasn’t changed a thing she said. The ship approached the planet and soon the radar beacon was activated. ,, Unknown ship please identify yourself” ,, This is the star cruiser Evangelion, we request permission to dock with Coruscant” Eclipse said. ,, Permission granted said the voice over the radio”. With a quick dive into the atmosphere the ship was quickly docked with the docking bay. But we weren’t there yet we still had to take a speeder to the Jedi Council. It was very busy on Coruscant and there was an unusual amount of security. Rei was surprised to see that there were so many speeders hovering around at Coruscant. That was a thing that did change. After a while they saw the huge dome coming up on the horizon. They arrived at the Jedi Council building. Rei was very uncomfortable, Everyone looked at her. Probably because she was a girl and after the second resurrection of the Jedi there weren’t many gifted girls. She stayed close to Eclipse. Well Rei, we are off to meet with Master Skywalker first. Rei was shocked. M…Master Skywalker, I…I am going to meet master Skywalker? She asked him. Yes, he asked me to take you there at once. They walked through the huge corridors of the Jedi academy and made their way up to the council building (there are now two Jedi Academy’s the one on Yavin and one here). She saw a lot of young children (age of 10) practicing with their lightsabers and some of them were even sparring. Soon they arrived at the elevator which was going to take them up into the Jedi council building. The elevator went up really quick and Rei had this funny feeling in her stomach. But it was over quick and they reached the top. Rei, whatever you do, do not lie to the council. They know everything, Eclipse said. The huge doors were opened for them and they walked inside. The room was round with a lot of windows to the outside. And in a round circle were the seats where the master Jedi were seated. In the middle was Master Skywalker. He smiled when he saw Rei and she somehow smiled back (though this was very unusual considering Rei almost never smiles). Rei thought by herself: So this is him, the legendary Jedi who killed Darth Vader, I wonder how old he is. Exactly at that moment Master Skywalker Said:,, I am 461 years old Rei”. Rei was stunned and started to blush. I…I didn’t mean to…. It’s ok Rei, I was mean to use my mind reading powers and he smiled at her again. Rei smiled back but her cheeks turned all red. She looked around in the room and saw several more Jedi. Two of them she recognized. The two Jedi masters who were both equal in strength knowledge and skill. Chris Dubois and Kevin Laude. The reason I summoned you here Rei was to test your ability’s in the force. We know you destroyed a dark Jedi but you are not supposed to be able to do that at this young age. That is why I asked for you here. We are going to test your abilities. After that we will test your lightsaberskills, Skywalker said. But if you excuse me I do have to talk to your master first. There is something going on but we have it under control he said to Rei. He called for a guard to escort Rei to the lounge where she could relax a bit and the doors closed behind her…. Rei wandered off in one of her daydreams again. For 461 years old Master Skywalker still looked pretty cute and she felt a short smile again. She did not stay in the lounge long. She wandered through the long corridors of the Jedi Academy and saw several young trainees fighting with each other. Then she passed a room where several guys of her age were getting lessons in their lightsaber by one of the Jedi Trainers. There was also a girl. Rei stepped in and immediately the trainer silenced. Well well, if it isn’t Rei the trainer said. Word has it that you killed a dark Jedi he said. Rei nodded but felt sad again. Well then I would like to see how good you are the trainer said. You can fight Galen here. He is the best in my class. Rei nodded again and moved into the fighting ring. Galen smiled at her and said:,, You don’t think that I am going to hold back just because you are a girl do you?” Rei said:,, No, I don’t” and while saying that she took her lightsaber from her belt and activated it. The blue light brightened the room a bit. Galen did the same. He took his saber and activated it. A yellow light came shining out and the room got a bit of a green colour now. The calm buzzing of the lightsaber somehow felt comforting for Rei and she closed her eyes. Galen looked surprised but never the less he readied himself for combat. As Rei opened her eyes everything looked different for her. Around Galen was some sort of light. And when she looked at the Jedi trainer she saw a similar light but it was much stronger. Rei closed her eyes again but quickly reopened them. The lights were gone and everything was normal again. Galen attacked. He made an upward swing but Rei easily blocked it. She leaped backwards a couple of times and thought of what Bardiel did with them. Somehow she entered some kind of trance. She looked straight at Galen and raised her hand. Seconds later Galen flew backwards against the wall of the arena they were fighting. Argh, he screamed. He was quickly on his feet again and reactivated his saber. He was frustrated and Rei knew it. He was swinging his saber around him all the time while Rei wasn’t even standing there. He leaped up and tried to do a hack attack at her but Rei blocked it by quickly placing her saber horizontal. The sabers were locked. Galen started to push Rei’s lightsaber down. But Rei resisted it and placed her left hand directly in front of his face and focussed on the force once again. This time a massive amount of energy was released. Galen literally flew backwards. And crashed against the ceiling of the training room and fell on the ground again. He did not move. Seconds later Rei awoke from her trance and started to come to her senses again. The Jedi Trainer had already called for the medics and was looking very angry at Rei. But Rei did not even notice it. She felt very weak and drained. She sat down on the floor and deactivated her saber. She looked at her hands again and whispered …. not even a scream….. ------------------------------------------------- Chapter 4, the truth revealed Rei opened her eyes and found herself lying in a bed. She felt very lousy, completely drained and extremely tired. Though she was unable to sleep again. She looked around the room and saw some pictures. They were all master Skywalker’s. I must be in his room, she thought to herself. At that very same moment the door opened and a familiar face came round the door. It was master Skywalker. Rei immediately jumped out of bed and bowed for him. But she wasn’t fully recovered yet. Her legs did not have the strength to carry her yet and she fell over. Master Skywalker saw this. He immediately reacted and Rei felt something catching here though there was no-one there. She looked at master Skywalker and she saw that he had raised his hand to use the force to catch her. He smiled, why don’t you go back to bed, then you just lie there and I will tell you what is going on with you. Rei nodded and followed his orders. She climbed back in the bed and master Skywalker came sitting next to her on the edge of the bed. This must all be very confusing for you Rei, master Skywalker said. M..Master what is happening to me? Rei asked him. Please, call me Luke and he smiled. Rei smiled back and nodded her head. Let me explain it to you, but, it will be a bit of a shock so please prepare yourself. Rei was already shocked and was wondering what Luke was going to say. As you might have noticed you are very gifted and very strong in the force. Rei nodded. This is because you were born on the exact day, at the exact time, at the same location as where the ones mighty Anakin Skywalker was born. Somehow the force channelled an even greater power then his into your body. Anakin Skywalker? Rei asked. You mean D..Darth Vader? Lukes face changed a bit, more sad, and he nodded, Yes Darth Vader. I…I am sorry Luke, I didn’t mean to….. No Rei, its ok I did what had to be done, Luke replied calmly. But let me continue. Do you remember your parents? Luke asked Rei. No, the only thing I have is a picture, and Rei showed him the picture. Somehow Lukes face changed into sadness again. Whats wrong? Rei asked. Rei, your parents were not normal people, Luke said. Your father’s name was not Endoril…..His name …… was Skywalker. Rei was stunned, paralyzed. She tried to speak but no words came out. She looked at Luke, she looked him straight in the eyes. S..So y..you a..are my g..grandfather? Luke nodded. Yes Rei, and your parents did not die during a space accident. They were murdered, by dark Jedi who wanted to prevent you from being born. Of course you were already born but they did not know that, when they were murdered you were not around. So they thought that you were not born yet. You had already begun your training with master Eclipse. Master Yoda already predicted the reincarnation of the great power of Anakin but I always thought it was going to be a boy who was given these powers. Bardiel, the dark Jedi you destroyed was after you. He killed those people because he wanted to get his hands on you. I don’t know for what purpose yet. But I do know that you are here now. And we will continue your training here. NO, Rei said. I no longer wish to carry this burden. Look what I am doing to people that I am around. Tears came into her eyes. She took her lightsaber and threw it to the door. Luke pressed her against his chest. Shh, I know it’s hard, Luke whispered. But if you stop now, your parents would have died for nothing. I don’t know what those dark Jedi want to do with you, or who their leader is. but I do know that I don’t want them to get you. Why did you not tell me earlier, Rei asked Luke. I could not risk it, if it had leaked out you would have been tracked down even earlier, and now a tear appeared in Luke’s eye. Rei placed her arms around Luke’s neck and started crying. She just did so for five minutes straight. But she managed to get a grip of her emotions again and stopped crying, and got out of her bed. Luke looked at her a bit surprised but let her do it. She walked to the door (a little unbalanced because she was still very weak). She picked up her saber and activated it. She looked straight in the shining blue energy. Then she deactivated the saber and nodded. Ok, I will continue my training as a Jedi. There was a knock on the door and the face of Master Dubois came round the door. Master Skywalker, he has arrived, Chris said. Luke nodded and faced Rei again. I am sorry my dear but I have to go take care of something now. You better get some more sleep, and Luke stood up and walked out of the room. Rei looked at her hands and touched her body. She whispered, Darth Vader….. Rei walked around the jungle of Sigma 2 again. There was the little girl with the burns, Rei immediately walked over there and kneeled next to her. She was to late, the girl already died. But suddenly her dead eyes opened and the girl shouted: This is your doing; I got killed because of you! It is all your fault, all these deaths. Suddenly she heard more voices. She looked around and saw walking dead, all shouting at her:,, This is your doing, if you had not been born none of this would have happened. It is your fault! Rei got scared and said, B..But, I never wanted this, I did not ask for this power. I am not guilty of anything and she started running. Somehow she did not got far. She ran but she did not move. She activated her lightsaber but nothing happened. It did not activate. Suddenly all the dead people were gone. But there was something else that could be heard. Some sort of breathing machine. She recognized the sound and got very scared. Suddenly something came out of the bushes. There stood, all in black, Darth Vader. ,, It is your destiny” he said while pointing at Rei…… With a shock she awoke from her dream. Covered in sweat she was still in the same room she had been before. It was dark outside. She looked at the time 2:12 am. Man, it is the middle of the night. She got out of her bed and heard voices in the living room. She walked to the door and looked through a small opening in the door. There was Luke, Kevin and Chris. And two unfamiliar people, she had never seen them before and could not tell if they were Jedi or not. Luke spoke: I must know why they want to have Rei. I understand, one of the black hooded guys said. I will see to it that I find that out. Deadlock, do not take unnecessary risks, Luke said. I don’t want them to find out that you are working for the light side. The black hooded guy replied: We all take risk, it is just a matter of how dangerous they are. While saying that, he got up. The other guy also got up and walked off along with Deadlock. He looked back at master Skywalker and said, Until we meet again. Who were those people, Rei wondered to herself. They looked and felt pretty strong. But she could not tell if they were Jedi or not. Somehow they felt different. Rei decided to go back to bed and hope that the nightmares would leave her alone for a while now. And they did. Rei wandered off into a deep sleep…… The next day, Rei got up early and slipped into some comfortable clothes, Did her hair, brushed her teeth and decided to take a look around the Jedi Academy. As she was walking there, a lot of people stared at her. She walked over to the lounge but somehow people just moved out of her way. Lots of the younger students were pointing at her. Rei felt very uncomfortable. When she entered the lounge, a silence fell in there. Lots of people were talking but when Rei stepped in, the silence entered. Rei looked around a bit and sat down at one of the empty tables. The talking slowly started again. Rei just stared around a bit. When suddenly she heard a friendly voice say: ,, Hey, are you really the granddaughter of master Skywalker? She turned her head and there was a boy, of about her age he was eating pie. Yes, she nodded. He looked at her with big eyes but he seemed not to be afraid. ,,Coool” he said. He kept his hand up and said, my name is Jacen. Rei took his hand and said: ,, Rei”. He smiled at her. You forget something, he said. Rei took his hand again and said: ,, My name is Rei Skywalker” and she smiled a little bit while saying it…….. ------------------------------------------------ Chapter 5 Troubling news and a Troubling discovery It has been over 1.5 months now, Rei thought to herself. She was lying on her bed in her room. She had a room in the quarters of Master Skywalker but he was not at home. Rei’s abilities in the force and her ability to wield her lightsaber were improving but they were still not strong enough. She had been training almost day and night. Today she finally had a day off but she didn’t really know what to do besides training so she started doing that again. She activated her lightsaber and started swinging around a bit. Just doing some moves in mid air. Rei now started to enjoy the buzzing of the lightsaber. Suddenly the doorbell rang. Rei pressed a button on the computer and said: ,, Who is it?” On the other end she heard: ,, unexpected inspection, just to check if we are not hiding secret boyfriends.” Just by hearing the voice she knew it was Jacen. Rei activated the camera mode and now they could see each other. Jacen was still eating the last piece of his pie and waved at Rei. ,, Hang on, ill let you in” she said. She pressed a button on the computer and the door slided open. After a few seconds Jacen came running in. Rei, Reeeii, you have got to hear this. Rei wiped her head off because she was sweating a bit from her training and said:,, sure what’s up?” Well, Jacen said, there are rumours that you have the same gift in the force that the great Anakin Skywalker once had. Rei was a bit shocked while hearing this news because Luke told her not to tell any of the students. Err, no, that’s not true, I mean you are better then me Jacen, she replied shortly. Jacen smiled, Hell yeah I am. And he took the last bite of his pie. This was good pie today, he said. Rei nodded and said, I am sure it is. At that moment the door slid open again and Luke entered the room. Jacen immediately bowed the second Luke entered Rei’s room. Rei on the other hand walked over and hugged Luke. Hello my dear, he said. Hello grandpa she said. Rei, I need to talk to you about something, replied Luke and he looked at Jacen. Ok, ok I get it, Jacen said, I am not wanted at the moment. He smiled and walked out of the room. Ow and Rei, he said, Why don’t you come to the students lounge anymore, it would be really cool if you come sometime, He said. Well maybe some other time, Rei replied. The door closed and now Luke and Rei were the only ones in the house. Luke sat down on one of the chairs in Rei’s room and Rei said down on her bed. Rei did notice something was wrong by the expression on Luke’s face. What is wrong? Rei asked. Well, Luke said, you remember that we sended Eclipse out on an assignment in the outer rings to investigate the deaths around there do you? Rei nodded, a scared feeling suddenly came over her. W..What’s wrong then? She asked with a bit of a trembling voice. We were supposed to hear from him twelve hours ago and he has not checked in yet. Rei suddenly felt very uncomfortable and sad. I..It could be just a technical problem? Rei tried. No, Eclipse is the best mechanic and fighter around the Academy, I don’t think that it is technical Luke replied. Rei was stunned a bit but could still talk, T..Then what do you think it is? She asked Luke. Well, he said, I am sensing a lot of disturbances in the force lately. I am afraid that it has something to do with that, Luke said. Now Rei was sad. Why does everyone she likes get in to so much trouble. Can you leave me alone for a while, Rei asked Luke. He nodded, Don’t worry, I am sure he is alright. Luke walked out the door and Rei turned on her back. She stared at the ceiling for a long time just wondering what could be wrong. It’s probably nothing she said to herself. Maybe he forgot to check in and is he eating a very tasty sandwich now. That could also be possible. Rei lied there for quite some time until she fell a sleep…. Rei, Rei, Rei… Rei opened her eyes and saw Luke’s face. Rei, we are going to Octa 3. It has been another 10 hours now and Eclipse still hasn’t checked in. 10 hours Rei said with a sleepy head. I slept for 10 hours? Yes Rei, now will you hurry up please Luke said. But, why do you want me to come, I am not a good Jedi yet. Yes you are Rei, and besides normal padawans always go with their master so I am taking you with me now Luke said. Rei nodded, she clipped her lightsaber on her belt slipped in some clothes and hurried herself to the launch pads. When she got there she saw Luke talking to Master Dubois. I am leaving you in charge here, he said. Master Dubois bowed and said, Deadlock is already waiting for you at Octa 3 master. Luke placed his arm on his shoulder and thanked him. ,, May the force be with you”, Dubois said. Luke nodded and replied, I think we are going to need it. They all speeded on board of the comfortable but yet heavily armed Skyracer (Luke’s personal ship). Rei looked around and saw that Master Laude also came along. She also noticed another Jedi Knight. She never met her in person but she heard a lot of rumours about her. . When the Knight noticed Rei, she immediately went to talk to her. ,,So, you must be Master Skywalkers Grandchild, aren’t you?” She asked. ,, Yes, I am” Rei replied. The knight stretched her arm and said:,, My name is Kim Belotti” ,, Rei Skywalker” Rei replied while taking her hand. Kim smiled and Rei replied the smile with a faint one. The ship took off into space and as they reached the outer space docking ring the hyperdrive was quickly engaged. Rei looked outside and saw two D-wing (improved model of the X-wing) fighters outside. One of the pilots waved at her. Rei did raise her hand but did not wave. She just stared outside wondering again. Suddenly there was a shock and the three ships dropped out of hyperspace. ,, Unknown vessels, you have the bad luck of running into the Ardis-onmia Rogues gang” was heard over the radio. Please drop all your belongings to us or you will be destroyed. Almost immediately the D-wings locked their S-foils in attack position. ,, We give you one last change” was heard over the radio. Drop your weapons and lower your shields, Prepare to be boarded” Luke nodded at the pilot who lowered his shields. Luke used some sort of telepathic power because Rei, Kim and Kevin heard his voice in their minds. ,, Don’t worry, as soon as they board we jump them and disable them the two D-wings will take care of the remaining fighters” ,, only use your lightsaber to deflect the gunfire do not strike them down” A loud Click was heard and one of the rogue ships had docked with the Skyracer. Soon the airlock opened and 10 rogues came out. They immediately noticed Rei. Who was standing there but not with her lightsaber in her hand. ,,Aah a pretty young girl, maybe we will take you as well”. ,, You will have to get through me first” Luke said. ,, That can be arranged watch your mouth old man” one of the rogues said. ,, You would be surprised what this old man can do” Luke said with a smile. He raised his hand and all the rogues fell down. Jedi, these people are Jedi the leader of the rogues shouted. Kill them, Kill them all. The sound of three activating sabers was heard. Meanwhile outside, the D-wing fighters were engaging the rogues. Flashes of lasers were seen and soon one of the rogue ships was destroyed. Yet 3 still remained. Inside the battle had started. Rei had activated her saber and was constantly deflecting laser beams. The rogues were constantly firing at them. Rei tried to deflect the lasers back in a way that they would hit the weapon of origin. She succeeded in it 4 times. And some of the guns were disabled. Luke was deflecting in the same way but suddenly on of the rogues jumped Rei and placed against her head. He had sneaked up on Rei during the chaos of the battle and had now taken a good grip. ,, Alright! Drop it!. Immediately Luke, Kevin and Kim deactivated their sabers. ,, Now don’t do anything hasty, Kim said, If you kill her, we will jump you and finish you off for sure. ,, That would do us both no good, the rogues said. Obviously he had been in such a situation before. Rei was completely silent and had closed her eyes. She heard Luke’s voice but it was very vague and blurred. Suddenly the rogue licked over Rei’s cheek and said, Looks like we are going to make a little trip together. With a shock Rei opened her eyes, something came up inside her, Anger, Hate, She focussed and a burst of energy came free and blew the rogue off her. She immediately turned around and kept her hand up in a way so that it could gip around the neck of the rogue. The rogue slowly came loose of the ground and was hanging on some invisible force that surrounded his neck. He was choking. ,,W…What A..re .*cough* Y..ou Do…ing” *cough cough* he said. ,, I…Ha..ve a Fam..ily *cough *.Rei kept her grip and she squeezed even harder. Suddenly Luke jumped Rei and she immediately came out of her trance and released the rogue who fell down on the ground and did not move. Rei closed her eyes again, she felt drained and empty somehow. She was too tired to stand. Luke carried her to a bed but Rei did not even notice it. Luke looked at Kevin and said, If she does not remember this, then we better not tell her about it either. Kevin nodded. Indeed …. not until we know for sure. Luke nodded back at him. Happy birthday Rei, yeah good girl, you are four years old now. And Rei’s father smiled. ,,What is this” Rei whispered, am I …. dreaming? Rei saw herself as a four year old girl celebrating her birthday. What is this, I don’t remember this at all Rei thought. ,,Too bad Grandpa Luke cannot be here but he was called away on a meeting”. Grandpa not saying happy birthday, the little four your old girl said. A beautiful woman came out of the kitchen while saying”,, No girl, but he will be coming later” M..Mother, Rei whispered. Mother?, Rei shouted. But the woman did not hear her. Alright, let’s go, we are going to the park, Rei’s father said. Suddenly the environment changed and Rei found herself in a park. Again she saw herself playing in the leafs. At last she saw a really familiar face. Eclipse came walking towards them (though he looked a bit younger). When he got there, Rei’s father said, Ah good to see you old friend, I am glad you could make it. ,, Where is the party animal, Eclipse said. Rei’s father pointed at the young Rei playing in the leafs. Eclipse walked over there and kneeled next to her. ,, Hello little girl” How about a hug for your best friend Eclipse. The young girl smiled and hugged Eclipse. ,, I want to go and give cake to the ducks “ Young Rei said to Eclipse. ,, hahaha, hey Tommy, Can I take you girl to the water place so we can feed the ducks??” Eclipse yelled at Rei’s father. So my fathers name was Tommy, Rei thought to herself. ,,Sure you can, we will finish preparations here for the barbeque” Tommy yelled back. Eclipse lifted young Rei and they walked away. Somehow Rei’s dream kept on focussing at her parents. As if it wanted to show her something. Rei saw her parents preparing some meat for a barbeque and she saw her father spraying some oil into a huge bowl when she suddenly noticed something else. There was a black garbed stranger in the bushes next to them. Rei held her breath and kept watching. She saw the Black garbed stranger holding something in his hand. When she looked closer she saw that it was a lightsaber. Immediately she got it, this was where her parents were murdered. Mother, Father!!! Look out, in the bushes, Mother!! Father!! Rei screamed. But they could not hear her. Suddenly the stranger activated his saber and leaped straight into the place where her parents were standing. Rei had tears in her eyes and kept on screaming and shouting she fell on her knees. She saw her mother being struck down and shortly after her father. Both of them were caught completely on surprise and had no chance of defending themselves. Rei cried now and tried to look who did it but as she moved closer the images of her parents and the stranger kept moving backwards. She could not get near them. Once more she shouted Mother……. ----------------------------------------------- Chapter 6 Arriving on Octa 3 and new meetings Rei woke up with a very, very lousy feeling. She looked around the sleeping quarters on the ship and noticed that Kim was in the room. He was meditating but he started talking to her. ,,Good morning, we are almost there” she said with a smile. ,, Alright, good” Rei replied. She walked to the bridge and saw Luke and Kevin playing a game of chess. As Rei walked in both of them looked up and said hi. Rei said hi too and walked to the pilot. ,, Miss Skywalker” he said. And she looked at him but did not reply. ,, Ah there it is, Octa 3” The pilot said and he pointed with his finger into space. Rei followed his finger and saw a small dot still far away. She looked outside and saw the two D-wing fighters flying. Again, the pilot waved at Rei. Rei raised her hand but did not wave back. The little dot grew bigger every second and soon they were entering the atmosphere. ,, There is the beacon “ he said. Land there. The pilot flew the ship towards the beacon with ease and the soon another ship was seen and two black dots in front of it. The ship touched down with a minor shock and soon the doors opened and they could get out. Kevin and Kim went out first and after them came Rei and Luke. It was a cold planet. Not as cold as Hoth but still cold. The two dark figures walked forward and Rei immediately stepped back (considering she just had that dream about a dark figure). She bumped into Luke. ,, What is wrong Rei, he asked her. N..nothing, she said. ,, Come I want you to meet someone” Luke said and he walked towards the two dark characters. The tallest stepped forward and removed his hood. Rei saw a friendly face but it had something scary over it too. ,, Come Rei” Luke said. ,, Deadlock, I want you to meet my granddaughter Rei” Luke said. Deadlock moved his hand forward and Rei took it. ,, It is a pleasure to meet you, a cold but still friendly voice said” Rei nodded. ,, Rei, This is my padawan, Xander” Deadlock said. The somewhat smaller guy (not much about 2.5 cm) stepped forward and removed his hood. Rei saw that he was about her age, maybe a bit older. She also noticed something else. His cheeks were getting a bit red as he held out his hand. Rei took it and said hello. ,, Well now that we all know each other, I suggest we get down to business” deadlock said. ,, Yes, that sounds good” Luke replied. Well let me get straight to the point deadlock started. There are Dark Jedi on this planet. I believe they are holding your friend Eclipse hostage. I think they want to know if Rei is alive or not, Deadlock said. Rei felt her breath choke in her throat. And she sat down on a rock. So this is again my fault, she thought to herself. Why does this has to happen to me all the time. What did I do, why did I had to be born on the day of Anakin Skywalkers birthday. Why do I have his powers, she kept on thinking. Why do they even want me, what use can I be to them? Rei kept on thinking while she did not notice that Luke asked her if she was ok. Somewhat quickly she replied to him, Yes I will be just fine. They walked into the badlands of the planet. The scenery was rough. Lots of rocks and small caves and also a whole lot of snow and ice. If Rei had to guess she would say it was about -10 degrees. Rei’s eyes wandered off to a little bunny looking creature who was looking at them with very sweet eyes. Rei kept on looking at the small creature and smiled faintly. Life is good, she thought to herself. At that moment Deadlock raised his hand Luke stopped right away and moved his hand to his lightsaber. Rei looked at Kevin and Kim and she saw that they did the same thing. Rei moved her hand to her saber slowly but thought about the last time she had activated it, at the academy (she does not remember killing the rogue). And she quickly retreated her hand. Only seconds later 5 activating sabers were heard and 5 in black clothes covered Jedi leaped in front of them. ,, What can I do for you “ one of the Jedi said. Luke, being surprised that they did not attack them right away replied: ,, We come here looking for one of our companions” You will not find him here, the Jedi replied. ,, I am sure you will not mind if we look around then?” Luke said. ,, Now that I would “ the Jedi said, while throwing off his garb. Rei saw his minions do the same and soon after that Deadlock, Xander, Luke, Kim and Kevin did the same. Rei was scared, what if she lost control again, what would happen? She was in conflict while one the Jedi engaged in combat. The 5 Dark Jedi each leaped into Rei’s group and activated their sabers in mid air. Immediately Luke and the others scattered around the area. The sound of five activating sabers was heard. Rei still was not sure. One of the dark Jedi leaped in front of Rei and wanted to swing but Rei had already leaped backwards evading the blow. She looked at Luke, He was fighting the leader. Flashes and buzzing was heard all the time. Suddenly a saberlock. The two Jedi were pressing their sabers at each other. But Luke quickly gained the upper hand. He pushed the saber down and created an opening. He immediately lunged and the saber of the Dark Jedi sputtered. Soon it went out and the Jedi splitted in two. ,, Why are you running little girl “ said one of the Jedi. Rei looked over her shoulder and saw a Jedi leaping straight at her. Again she leaped backwards so avoiding the blow. ,, I don’t want to fight you” Rei said, I don’t want to use my powers. ,, I think you are just scared, a scared little girl” said the Jedi. ,, You are a shame to your parents “ he said with an arrogant and foul face. Something snapped inside of Rei. The thought of her parents, the dark stranger killing them, this Jedi naming them and so making fun of her. Rei closed her eyes and reached out to her saber, She felt Hatred and anger rising inside her. She opened her eyes and saw the Dark Jedi being scared. Y..Your eyes, he said, Y..your eyes are red. Rei pressed her cheeks together and leaped straight at the dark Jedi. While in the air she activated her lightsaber and focussed on the force. The dark Jedi lost a grip of his Lightsaber and that same saber was soon in Rei’s hands. She leaped straight in front of him and stopped there. ,, I..I am unarmed, you would not strike someone down unarmed would you. Rei looked at him. He tried to run but somehow he could not move. Rei moved the two sabers around his neck and created a pair of scissors. ,, REI, NOO Don’t DO it!” Luke shouted when he noticed Rei. Rei closed her eyes and took a deep breath. As she opened her eyes the colour was normal again, She looked the Jedi straight in the eyes and turned around. She dropped his lightsaber on the ground and walked away. The dark Jedi laughed and pulled his saber toward him (try to imagine this part in slow-motion) ,, Rei, Look out!” Luke shouted. Rei turned around somehow already expecting this attack and raised her lightsaber and stepped in. The Dark Jedi leaped and swung his saber. Rei blocked it and Immediately attacked him. She walked, ran past the Jedi with her saber horizontal. The lightsaber of the Dark Jedi sputtered. And deactivated. He fell on the ground and when you look closer you could see his legs had been dismembered of his torso. Rei deactivated her saber and looked at the Jedi. She looked at her hands and then she looked to Luke. He nodded. ,, You are getting control over your powers Rei “ he said. Rei nodded. Luke smiled ,, you will be a strong Jedi, Rei” Rei nodded again. They looked at Deadlock who was still fighting a Jedi. He was enjoying it. He extended the fight. He was blocking the incoming attacks but he did nothing back. Two of the Dark Jedi now faced him. Xander wanted to step in but Deadlock ordered him to stand back. Deadlock was being flanked. ,, Cowards, face me in front of me” he said. He turned around and gripped one of the Jedi. He turned him towards his friend who came charging in on Deadlock. Deadlock foresaw it and held the Dark Jedi in front of him as a human shield. The Charging Jedi’s lightsaber went straight through his friend’s body. The arms fell next to the dead body. Deadlock laughed, Really hard. He deactivated his lightsaber and focussed on the force. A concentration of electric energy formed in his hands. Seconds later a massive electric discharge came out of his hands and hitted the remaining Jedi straight in his chest. He flew backwards for about 30 feet and fell on the ground. He was no longer moving. ,, Pathetic fools, Deadlock said, while removing the dirt from his clothes. Rei turned around and saw Kim. Her yellow saber made loud noises as it swung through the air with the greatest of elegance Rei had ever seen. Two some what younger Dark Jedi were attacking her from two sides. Kim however noticed an opening and rolled out. Now both of them were in front of her. She attack with a right swing but the dark Jedi blocked it. The sabers were locked tight and the other Jedi tried to attack Kim from behind. Only Kim noticed and used telekinesis to grab another lightsaber from one of the corpses. She activated it and blocked the attacking Jedi. Soon after she gained the upper hand in the Saber lock and Lunged straight through him with two sabers. The other Jedi got scared. He started to run. At first it seemed as if she was letting him go but soon she yelled at the Jedi, He looked around, saw a flash, and fell. Soon Kim’s saber returned to her hand. Rei finally noticed she had thrown her saber straight at the running Jedi. Kevin was the last remaining. He was fighting on a big concentration of rocks. His green lightsaber was a pretty sight. Everyone gathered around to see the fight. Kevin smiled while fighting. It was also as if he was enjoying it. The Dark Jedi launched a lightning strike on Kevin but he quickly leaped back avoiding the attack. He focused on the force and somehow disappeared. Luke smiled and said ,, watch closely Rei, that Jedi is done for”. Rei looked at the Jedi and just seconds later she saw a flash. The head of the Dark Jedi came rolling down the rock-formation and Kevin reappeared. He bowed and deactivated his lightsaber. When they were all together again Deadlock said, We have to find shelter, a snowstorm is approaching. They all entered a cave. The storm outside was raging and the temperature dropped even more. Rei shivered. Xander noticed it and got up. He sat down next to her. ,, Are you cold? He said. Rei nodded. He placed his cloak a bit around Rei so that they were both under it. Rei did something she could not understand either. She placed her head on his shoulder and closed her eyes. Kim whispered to Luke, I think that they are in love, thank god we scrapped the rule that says a Jedi cannot love. Luke smiled and replied, Indeed……… ------------------------------------------------- Chapter 7: Visions When the dawn broke the cave was still as cold as the night before. Tiny ice flowers could be seen on the walls of the cave. Luke was already outside and next to him was Deadlock. Rei was awake but she did not open her eyes. Her head was still on Xander’s shoulder and they were still warm under his cloak. She didn’t feel like getting up at all. Rei could hear Luke and Deadlock speak: ,, This might be nasty, Luke” Deadlock said. ,, I know mate, that is why I am glad you are here” Luke replied calm. ,, Yes, well just so you know, Deadlock continued, I am not willing to just charge in there and thus blowing my cover. ,, I know” Luke replied. They continued to stare at the scenery. Suddenly Xander woke up. Rei could sense that he was looking at her. She pretended to still be sleeping. Suddenly she felt a warm hand removing a bit of hair that had fallen in her face. Rei didn’t move and still pretended to be sleeping. She heard Luke enter the cave and he started waking everyone up. ,, Alright people, get up, we got work to do” he yelled. Rei faked her waking up pretty good, No-one noticed that she was already awake. She looked at Xander who blushed heavily while she did that. Rei smiled. It was not as cold as it was the day before outside. Rei enjoyed the warmth of the sun on her skin. They were walking in pairs to spread more ground. Luke was on his own though. Rei was paired with Kim, which Rei really liked since there weren’t much female Jedi after the second awakening. ‘You like him don’t you’ Kim suddenly said. Rei blushed and looked at her. Kim smiled and Rei was blushing even more. She looked at Xander. ‘Well, he does look good doesn’t he?’ Kim asked again with an even bigger smile. ‘I..I guess’ Rei replied. ‘Ha! I knew it, you are in love aren’t you?’ Kim laughed. ‘Shall we continue on our search?’ Rei said. ‘Ok, sure, I didn’t mean to…well…you know’ Kim said. Rei gave her a faint smile. ‘That’s ok, she said I am just worried, I don’t know what to do’ Rei replied more sad. Kim placed her hand on Rei’s shoulder, ’We will find him, don’t worry’ she said. Rei looked at Kim and smiled. ‘Thanks’ she said. Suddenly Rei felt something inside of her. It was intensely strong. It felt like something was snapping inside of her head. It burned and it was very painful. Rei quickly pressed her hand against her head. ‘Whats wrong?’ Kim said. ‘I..it Hurts Kim…….it Hurts, she cried. Rei fell to her knees. ‘LUKE!’ Kim shouted. Only seconds later both Luke and Deadlock were there. ‘Whats wrong?’ he said. ‘Its Rei, something is wrong’ Kim said. Rei heard the voices very far away. She felt herself wandering off into some sort of trance. ‘Rei….Rei?..Rei!’ but Luke’s words didn’t weren’t even heard by her. REI! Don’t touch that, it’s dangerous! Eclipse ran towards her and quickly took the lightsaber out of the hands of the 7 year old girl. ‘You are far too young to be even touching this Rei’ He said. ‘Why?’ said the little girl. ‘Because, I need to train you much more on the force before I can have you touch this. Now, come, let us continue with your telekinesis lessons. Rei saw herself as a young girl aged 7 years old. She looked around and saw the house that has been their home for the last 13 years. She saw Eclipse with showing her how to move an object using the force. Rei remembered this. She was about to smash a vase because she did not have full control over the flying object. And while she thought of this, she saw herself lifting a small rock which immediately crashed into what seemed to be a very expensive vase. Eclipse laughed though and Rei laughed with him. ‘I don’t remember laughing’ Rei thought. The image of the room was slowly getting darker and suddenly there was nothing to see. ‘What is happening?’ Rei thought. Suddenly she saw Eclipse. It was as clear as it could have been. He was fighting. She quickly looked around and noticed that they were fighting at almost the same place as where she had fought the Dark Jedi about 1 day ago. She saw 4 corpses and 8 more remaining Jedi all leaping towards Eclipse. He remained calm though the situation wasn’t really proving to have a happy end for Eclipse. Rei only wanted 1 thing. Help him. She began to run towards him but the image did not got any closer. I need to wake up she thought. I must, I have to, WAKE UP! With a loud scream she was back to the normal world. Kim Luke and Xander looked at her while Kevin and Deadlock were standing guard. ‘What happened Rei’ Luke said. ‘Are you alright?’ Kim and Xander said at the same time.
