Sup, There is another post about Revolutions but the only thing it contains is if/when ppl saw it. This is intended to be the obligatory, give your $0.02. Disappointing. Unlike Reloaded, where I felt the plot was thrown in here and there, so the action made "some" sense, Revolutions actually STARTS out pretty damn good. It quickly tapers off. Over all I think the wachowski brothers new what they were doing, I think they wanted to make 2 deep philosophical sequels, but somewhere their train was derailed. Questions: 1. Wtf is up with entire 1st movie being about freeing minds, and then in the sequels, the freeing of minds is talked about for ONE sentence in each movie. 2. How DID Smith get so powerful? FROM HERE DOWN SPOILERS WILL BE INCLUDED: Was it just me out was trinity death scene just, terrible. Did I miss some huge mind-blowing idea behind the concept of her death??? I understand in the previous 2 movies there were things that eluded to Neo's life being like the life of christ, but damn did it get strong, I beleive in the span of say 5 minutes, his links to the matrix held him like he was on a fucking crusafix. Spoiler I think a lot of people that feel disappointed with movie were expecting something different. They were expecting the humans to win, the matrix to be shut down and all people to free, the machines totally beaten. Its not often that when peace comes in a war that one side is completely and utterly obliterated. As for the Architect. Every program in the Matrix has a purpose. His purpose is to keep the equation balanced. He sees that as the One returning to the source and resetting the Matrix. He doesn't see beyond this because its not his function. I think he actually made Smith become as powerful as he did since Smith was meant to balance out the One. And The Architect was actually pretty close to being right about what would happen if Neo didn't return to the source. Zion was a heartbeat away from destruction. Smith really screwed up the Matrix. If Neo hadn't returned to the Source aka the machine city the architect would have been right. I thought the movie was good. Me liked. LOL, I wasn't a massive fan of the first film (unlike most....sigh), tho it was alright. The last two upped the ante both in terms of plot, symbolism and action for me. Third beats second beats first in my book...and I think it'll be the same with LotR for me....tTT beat FotR hands down as it didn't need to set the scene any more...../amhighjackthread 1... SPOILER ALERT - WOOWAAAWOOOOOOOOOO  Whoever said about the machines seem capable of lying (well, you actually said laying, but you probably type twice as fast as me ...I'm slooooow)...I'd have said the opposite.The Architect cannot see past a decision he cannot understand...as with anyone....and could he have possibly understood the peace to come with the humans at that moment? Let me put that another way; when giving the choice of two doors to Neo at the end of Reloaded, I would have thoguht that he could...forsee ....much of the action in Revolutions. However, he certainly would not have been able to see all of it, particularly the peace - it's too ground-breaking. So from that point of view, it's a reasonable assumption to make that things will go as they have done 5 times before. YOu can therefore say that he ain't necessarily lying there...this may sound tenuous, but I lean towards the Oracle's viewpoint on that...that guy ain't playing with a full deck BTW...the point thatthe Architect makes about not being human is more of a symbolic moral attack on human nature. We lie, cheat, steal and kill. Sometimes in the same day (I shouldn't joke, but I can't help it ). A machine cannot do anything but follow it's programming. That's all MOST of the machines do - I'd argue it's only the more complex machines that have the AI that causes all the problems (Animatrix). How can we blame the machines for ANY of the action in the Matrix Trilogy? Given the human race initiated the war, the machines then considered us a threat in reaction to this. Like an automatic defence system... Therefore i'm pretty sure that unless the situation changes dramatically (like if Smith has infected the Architect at the end, lol) then Mr Machine will keep his word...he is incapable of being THAT human... _______________ Brother to HW and Kyp Durron, padawan of the almiiiighty NFF. What I think on the little girl: The equation still has to be balanced. There still needs to be the potential for another ONE. That's what I think. I think you will see something sometime, where he is still around, perhaps not visibly, etc. It seems like the second coming of Christ. He's out there, but won't come back until it is all over. Did u notice that the last time they show neo they show that view that he was seeing during the whole movie with all the energy glowing yellow. Well when neo is supposively dead, according to that view he still had alot of energy flowing through him. I dont think he is dead. He was glowing BRIGHT YELLOW!! I think he is in a state of comatose. The oracle even mentioned that she suspected she would be seeing him again. Koyi and I believe that there will be another animatrix or something like that to answer some more questions. But i truly believe that Neo is alive! About the Architect thing. I dont believe you can trust anything he says. In Reloaded, he says that if he goes through the door to save Trinity, he cannot save her, and his race will die. Yet, he DOES save her... but his race dosent die... does that leave space for revolutions? What if he was wrong about the past too? Sup, ***********SPOILERS************* This is just answering some questions for Cloaked Thunder. These answers are MY interpretation of the movie. I think she died cause it would have been alot of work for her NOT to die. She had no ship, Neo dies, and how would she get back to Zion, call em on her cell phone, stay at the hilton in the mean time? I do toss around the idea, that now it was Neo truely having to do this "on his own" but that she died wasnt the big deal, its HOW bad her death scene was. I mean she just laid there giving a retarded speach that made me want to shoot her to ME out of my misery. Yes Neo is dead, the end of the movie ( in the Real World ) he dies like Jesus dies on the cross for everyones "sins" and for he accomplished by his sacrifice, there is peace. About Smith, think of this like a Marovigian(sp) causality. Supposibly everything in the universe has something to balance it, (i.e. think about breathing oxygen, exhaling CO2, then plants intake CO2 and provide oxygen, this is a simple example of a balanced equation) Smith balanced Neo, Neither one could ever "kill" the other, Smith beats on Neo knocks off his glasses, gives him a bloody lip, a min later Neo does the same thing to him. I guess if it came down to it they would both die of exhaustion at the exact same time. What happen in turn is that Neo came to an understanding of what would happen if Smith "assimalated" him. Smith on the other hand was very confused, because he could not see past the decision he didnt understand. When the architect and the Oracle talk at the end and he says "how long do u expect this peace to last" he is speaking of the peace treaty between the machines and the humans. I am unaware what the machines will do now, but the humans will obviously rebuild thier city, (Xion or above ground) I myself am not to sure about the little girl, I thought maybe she is there help show the "connection" machines or programs can gain/have for one another. As for the architect saying "what do you think I am human." I have noticed that the AI in matrix (the oracle seraph maravingian, the architect, etc) do appear capable of laying. So when he says those who wish to be will be freed, I have no clue why the oracle would doubt him, but she does, maybe someone else can add ot this????? About the ppl who will be "freed," again I was unclear on this, but I read something along these lines and it sounds good enough for me. All the ppl in the matrix will not actually be let out. The archtect states that 99% of the population will accept the matrix, the remaining 1% will now be freed when they choose, the rebels in Xion will not have the "break them out." The reason Neo dies and the oracle does not, because, the oracle isnt bound by the same laws as Neo, according to the laws givin about human in the Matrix, if your mind goes so does your physical body. Well the oracle really ahs neither, she is some very advanced AI, and when the matrix is reloaded, at the end when Neo dies for everyone, so is the oracle reloaded, imho. _______________ Silent Bob (Kevin Smith): You know, there's a million fine looking women in the world, dude. Ulic, very nice post. You cleared up some things for me. ********Spoilers BELOW***** First off I would like to say. I NEED closure DAMN IT!!! this movie didn't give me that!!!! m00! I freakin hated that she died. That really made me sad  AND i mean deeply saddened. I lub Trinity. Was neo dead at the end when he was laying on the machine? OR was he just unconscious? Was smith wiped out? What was up with the little girl? What did the architect mean when he said "peace only for a short while"? what did he mean when the oracle said "do i have ur word", and the architect replied "sure, what do u think i am, human" ? when the oracle said " will you now free them", was she talking about all the humans in the incubators/the matrix?Neo saw the only way to beat smith was to become him. So when neo was jacked into the machines, then he became smith and when he done that I guess that let the machines find smith's "source code" and destroy it. Am i correct on this? Ulic u were talking about a positive and a negative, but the positive and negative was inside of the matrix and not in the real world. So was neo killed in the matrix? If so then he was killed in the real world too? The body cannot live without the mind, but remember he is the chosen one. Also, the oracle became a smith too and she didn't die. I'm all twisted up, bah The end leaves me to believe that the architect will not leave peace for zion and they will have more war. Sup, Sermon, well thats fine, but all good movies that are a sci-fi / action / whatever. Need 2 things 1.) that wonderful underlaying message, and 2.) GOOD action. The Matrix had both, it was awesome. Everytime I wathch M1 or FOTR, I there are character I truely "feel" for i.e. borimier or morpheus. In Reloaded / Revolution I never once sat on the edge of my seat or couldn't stand the anticipation, of an action sequence. the first 2/3 to 3/4 of the movie was quite good (almost seemed like a real movie with plot, acting and everything!) i should mention, i hated the second movie, all action with no sensemaking. but they had to go and have them flying and fighting at the end!?!?! why with the flying?!?!?! soooooo lame. they might as well breathe fire or shoot lasers out their eyes. some great sfx shots though, loved the slow-mo fist hitting the rain drops, that was nice. much better than the second film, but not as good as the first. the first was almost perfect until he flew away at the end. god i hate the flying. _______________ this is the internet, be serious damn it! |

SPOILERS BELOW, AFTER A WAYS Yes. You have it right, you just don't see it. This is not an action movie, but a sermon. It is what was intended. The Wakowski brothers needed to convey these points in a way that people would actually pay to see them. And it worked. Go back to the first movie, on the Nebuchanezzar reactor, it say Mark III no. 11. Now, look up Mark 3:11. Fun, eh? As for why the first movie was about "free your minds". This concept is Platonic, from Plato. It's a philosophical answer. Perhaps some others. The thing is, this just wasn't cutting it. Neo knew there was more to it, just like there is "more" (religion) than just freeing your mind here. So Neo is in search of what the "more" is. When he finds it, and finds what he muct do, he does it. As for Smith growing powerful, Smith was the NEGATIVE ONE. So as Neo grew, Smith grew. BUT, NEO was the Oracle to Smith, when Smith got destoyed at the end of the first movie. This allowed for Smith to realize somthing, to believe in the powers of himself as the NEGATIVE ONE. In this 3rd movie, it is explained that Smith is Neo's opposite, or a Yin to the Yang. They need to balance each other out. Which is why no one actually won in the end. And such, everything that has a beginning has an end. Neo realized this, and say that if you add the ONE to the NEGATIVE ONE, everything balances out to..... ZERO. Actually, I think it resets. But that's just me. Figure out what the little girl in the 3rd movie needed to be. So Neo dies in the form of a Cricifix. And the last words of the machine face? "It is done." Same as the last words of Christ on the cross: "It is finished." No, the whole movie trilogy was for Neo to figure out that what he needed to do was stretch beyond Platonic thinking (the old law, like the Old Testament), and sacrifice himself for the salvation of humanity. Damn, you hate knowing you just digested a 6-hour sermon, don't ya? This is why I love the movies so much. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace.
