Yeah, I showed the article to my dad as well. He showed me his scar from it.
The worst thing about the article, and the other one on the main page for me, isn't smallpox itself. Scary it is. I am probably the oldest member of the academy (37) and I had to have the smallpox vaccine when I was a kid. It was not a fun thing to do. We had to line up and it was given with a gun type device with a needle on the end. It hurt real bad and made a scab about the size of a silver dollar. I still have a scar from it today. I hope we do not have to go down that road again. Some people actually contracted the disease from the vaccine because it was a live virus vaccine. Some of those people died. I don't plan on taking the vaccine until they come up with a newer type that doesn't use the live virus. Just thought I would give you my thoughts since I am probably the only one who had experience with the virus. Clay is molded to make a pot, but it is the space where there is nothing that the usefulness of the clay pot lies. Cut out doors and windows to make a room, but it is in the spaces where there is nothing that the usefulness of the room lies. Therefore, Benefit may be derived from something, but it is in nothing that we find usefulness. |
