Why should our government send our soldiers to foreign soil to protect freedom of speech, when our freedom of speech is being taking away everyday by the same government.

Depends, if you are only going to use it to listen to music, get a mp3 player. If you want to record stuff and edit stuff on your PC that you have recorded, buy a minidisc. As simple as that because on an MP3 player goes about (if you have a real Data reader) 100 songs or something (maybe even more) and on 1 minidisc go about 30 songs so mp3 would be better then. But if you want to record stuff, go for an Minidisc. :)

I would suggest you buy a minidisc+mp3 player, but I don't know how much it costs in Canada.
In France they are at about 280$ US
But the price usually drop after xmas

I own a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen (mp3 player), which was Creative's first attempt at defeating the iPod. Really I only got it because it was cheaper than the iPod, held just as much music, and, well, it was cheaper. I got it off of eBay and let me tell you, i can't imagine life without it. I am SOO happy with my purchase, and it's even better with the latest firmware (it was like getting a whole new mp3 player!). i haven't looked in a while, but i bet you can get the latest zen (which is thinner and holds more) for maybe a little more than $300 on ebay or pricewatch.com if you look hard enough.

HA!

100 or so songs in under $200? You MIGHT get 50, but that's the best you'll reach. I'd still go with mp3 player, and just rip mp3s off of CD (or get them SOMEWHERE, dunno where), and place them on your mp3 player.

Go with the iPod, well worth it. Steer clear of the Rio, and anything by Samsung. Creative is pretty good, but I sent back 7 (yes, SEVEN) Rios that broke on me before tricking the Staples guy into letting me trade it in for a Creative one. Only was damaged when I stepped on it after a year, still worked, but traded it in under the service plan.

Oh yeah, get a service plan for whatever you eventually get. I cheap out and trade in for a new one every year, even if it is only a stuck switch, or something minor. Take major advantage of this. I figure the $30 to trade in for a new mp3 player every year is well worth it. I use mine to death.

I want something reliable for under $200 Canadian, that can hold about...100 or more songs...and is somewhat small/looks nifty.

More opinions?

BTW, mp3 internet sites are shutting down, REALLY REALLY FAST, and if you do somehow get an illegal copy of an mp3, in the US of course, I'll see you in jail

MoS, I have an mp3 player. My brother has a minidisk player. I'd say, go with the mp3 player, for a player, MiniDisk if you want the whole setup, like ease of transferring CDs to minidisks.

Really, do you d/l you music off the net, or rip them from CDs? If it is the first, go mp3 player. Plus, mp3 players can have their music switched out easily (relatively). You can delete one song, and add another. But minidisks allow a bit easier switching from disk to disk. But that's if you like everything on one disk.

I like my mp3 player. Have it right here too. So, well, it works for me.
