Ska is closer to pop punk than Punk in my opinion. For all you "young-uns", I strongly suggest listening to some "head-music". Bands like Rush, Yes, ELP, Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa. But more than that, I suggest NOT listening to the radio, watching MTV (or anything similar), etc. Make up your own mind about what to listen to and don't let the 'mainstream' tell you what is 'good'.
