The topic came up on mIRC as to which word is actually the right term for Japanese ritual suicide. They are both right, although seppuku is the "correct" term for the ceremonial, they are both used interchangebly. http://victorian.fortunecity.com/duchamp/410/seppuku.html _______________ Part-Time Player (Weekend Warrior). Yeah, I was going to comment, but Fate has it right. I almost brought my book from home, as I had once learned to be that noble second. I just forgot what it was called. But yeah. I'mt tired so, just read Fate's comment. _______________ Jedi do not fight for peace. That's only a slogan, and is as misleading as slogans always are. Jedi fight for civilization, because only civilization creates peace. |

Hara-ki literally means the cutting of the belly. Seppuku is the name of the cermeony by which one would committ suicide in this manner. While Hara-ki is the action, Seppuku is the entire preparation, commition of the act and the finishing of the ceremony by the second (your bud who cuts off your head just before you bleed to death) _______________ I must not fear . Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear . I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain. Gom gom gom gom gom! |
