my 2 cents on this is that i have always agreed that in order to capture the intensity, scale, culture and expanse of a large and immensely iminginative world such as the star wars 'universe' (among other equally created worlds such as those that exist in LOTR, WoT, to name a couple) then technology would have to progress forward a couple of years and a lot more ppl will have to become regular gamers for it to work. My theory has been that in order to make it as least real as playably possible with todays technology then it needs to be based only a certain theme - there is no way that you could continually run a world as large as star wars for an extended period of time because it wouldnt function as a 'real' world and it'd slowly die out (in terms of players). However even if the technology was available you would need to include so many aspects that people would have to be stuck with having a sub-jedi character in a vast majority of cases. Yet having said that, there are solutions to this and heres one i always thought possible... PLayers are randomly spawned to start with as the 'higher' characters, in this case the jedi, council etc. but not all potential jedi would know that they are capable. Hence everyone can still play with that goal in mind, hoping that one day they will i dunno be tested or something and they will be trained. Of course this still leaves a majority disappointed but what if next time around - after a restart of the world or something - their performance in their role is assessed and if they perservered they have a higher chance of being more important in the next game. I reckon it could work, but only on a large scale - it would be awesome to see a massive dark vs light idea where each side could make use of a lowly character to perform tasks for them, to ally themselves, to be ruthlessly executed by the sith for collusion with rebel forces, i dunno im ranting - its late, i need sleep and i need to stop wishing for the impossible ... Where is that turkey stuffed entirely with bacon anyway? |

I have to say, though, that the point of an MMORPG is not to actually play it like you would any normal game, online or otherwise. The real point is to create a character that you wish to become for the duration of your time with an MMORPG and act out that character's life and give him/her a personality. The actual gaming portion is just a welcome addition.  |

Sup, KOTOR online would be amazing, it would probably consume a large enough percentage of the world that ppl would start putting it down as thier occupation. Ok probably not but, it would be cool. I would be happy with just another cool Star Wars RPG.
