Hey ho.
I was thinking of joining the airforce it looks real nice to me siting flying killing people and that sort o stuff...

However what do you think are the good things and bad things about the airforce?

Just wanna hear some global opinions before i trow my decision around...

I think the good thing is that u are free in the sky that its a tough education..And the job later on looks like fun 2 me...

Bad. u could die (but a when cant u?). When ur like 40 it could be u are out of work (u can still be boeing pilot ^^)

I was in the AF a long time ago, but in a galaxy not so far away.:P

It wasn't exactly my thing at the time, I got out on a medical. I did meet a lot of cool people though. The toughest part of it is Basic Training and that's only 6 weeks. It wasn't all that demanding physically, but they played with your head a lot!

Also, I think most pilots went to college and got a degree before they joined. I know that you have to be an officer in order to become a pilot, except for helicopters.

If you have any other questions, I'd be happy to answer them as best as I can. Just keep in mind that I was there in '87, I'm sure some things have changed since then.

I think the airforce is looking for people that can tell the difference between "throw" and "trow". You'll make a good grunt. :D

I must not fear . Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear . I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Of course he can think of flying as fun. Just not killing. ;)

75%, if not more, of flying in the Airforce is practice/simlutator nowadays anyway, the chances of going out there and being a 'warhero' isn't exactly the greatest. But I think it'd be a great job, if you got what it takes (look at Sil's post for that). Good for an offset in commercial flight too, since you won't have to pay for the education.

Fighting robots is one step closer to the destruction of the world.

Anyway, to be educated to fighterpilot is very difficult. There are however countless of jobs in the Royal Airforce, most without risk in the Netherlands. If you want to kill people though it might be better for you and the world if you'd think about it a little more.

If you got the eyes, body and mind for it, then go for it. Know that it requires a lot of dedication and discipline, though. You should also take the time to think about why you want to do this. When they interview you, it pays off to have something more than Quote:
it looks real nice to me siting flying killing people and that sort o stuff...

How old are you, btw?

but do not join the air force just for the chance to kill someone... if you're going to do it, do it for the pay, the chance to see new scenery, meet new people, all the normal recruitment ad reasons :P

I think you need perfect 20/20 vision to be a pilot if I'm not mistaken

I'm hoping you're talking about a game here:)

otherwise, if that's your opinion about the army, then I wouldn't join
or you'll go like that American fellow:

Quote:
I never got the chance to fire upon an opponent

or something like that
:)

I wouldn't join if you're only planning to kill someone, because, think of it

It's always someone's son, someone's daughter
and perhaps someone's mother or father

If you're talking about a game
Please disregard;)
