Hey All, Moby here. Just wanted to drop a line and see what peoples thoughts are on the new upcoming film by Mel Gibson, The Passion. This movie is about the last 12 hours of Jesus Christ according to the gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. I for one am thrilled that this movie is coming out. I have seen the trailers. Interesting... I wonder what rationale most people use as the basis for that claim. I feel comfortable claiming that because of the geneological records I have that show this to be the case. Everyone is different though Java. You don't know the discussions they have with eachother in private. I wouldn't go around saying what I think my father is wrong on in public. But I might discuss it with him. And who knows really how much of a role the Jewish people had in his death. Its said that the Jewish Heirarchy wanted him gone. So if they had a part it should be shown. Jesus spoke Aramaic. In the months leading up to the release there was still some debate as to whether there would be subtitles at all. We all know the story. I've heard that some historians criticized it because the Romans all spoke Latin when, in fact, Romans in that time and place spoke Greek. Hebrew to my knowledge But personally I can't wait until it comes out over here in the UK - it should be great to see. To remind me, in detail, of what my Saviour did for me - all those years ago. I am genuinely surprised with how many people are wanting to see it, even people who are not Christians. There are subtitles, but it is in all Latin and greek and aramaic. I'm really looking forward to it, but I don't want to have too many expectations. Guess I'll just have to see for myself. I do think that it's awesome that Mel nails Christ to the cross. As moving as Raphael's portrait of the crucifixion. If they don't put English subtitles, I won't watch it, I don't understand Aramaic or Latin. But I'm definitely interested in seeing it. Mel gibson brings most of his roles to life as he does with any movie he is involved in, but i wont be watching it, i wouldnt enjoy the plot i dont think not being a religous person, but im sure everyone else will enjoy it _______________ If you add me to MSN, tell me who you are

Yeah I don't think this is your typical Hollywood treatment movie. None of it is in english. I think some Latin and Greek are spoken perhaps? And definitely Aramaic. I, too, am looking forward to this movie, despite the fact that I've already lost my faith. Some people think it will be terrible because it's a Hollywood movie about Jesus Christ, but I don't think anyone (especially Mel Gibson) would make a movie about Jesus and let it go down as a 'typical' Hollywood movie. |

I for one am thrilled and would like to see it. I think a popularized actor like Mel Gibson, who has frankly "made it" in Hollywood, is taking a huge risk by putting out a movie that is being critized before it's release because of the contents, and that some big companies aren't backing it up. It really shows Mel has a vision, and I'm on the edge of my seat on this one. I'm not a Christian, and I'd still like to see it, to see the story for dramatic and moral value, and an appreciation of (at least) a great man that is Jesus Christ. ~Ken |

Actually the big problem is that many Jewish groups claim its being anti-Semitic. I personally don't think it will be. I find it to be rather cool that a lot of the movie is done in aramaic, which is the language spoken at the time Jesus was alive. I personally am thrilled to see it. It's supposed to be good. I think it's funny though that it's rated "R". Of course, if you read the bible, there are allot of pretty "graphic" things in it. *Runs down to theater to buy tickets* PS: And all you Athiests; if you don't like the idea, then don't see it. Don't complain about it. I heard they were coming out with a movie called: "The book of Mormon".
